Question about OPL GUI: "Scroll Menu" & "Sound effect"
Question about OPL GUI: "Scroll Menu" & "Sound effect" –
Hi, OPL dev team. Thanks for your great work! The OPL works fine on my PS2, but I have some questions about OPL GUI.
Please watch the video:
FMCB Install 101
The video made by djflexmaster79
1. "Scroll Menu"
The scrolling effects shows in the video 2:23 to 2:35.
FMCB have the scrolling effects in the OSD Menu (Sony Main screen). But I don't see any version of OPL have this function in the game display menu.
I want to know why this wonderful visual effects can't be added in 'Scroll Menu'.
Is there some technical problems?
In my oppinion the scrolling effects is not only beautiful, but also practical.
I have a 30GB hard disk drive which installed 8~10 games. The game display memu in OPL can display 20 games in one list. The list space s big enough for the users who have a lot of games installed in the large size hard disk drive, such as 250GB. But for the small size hard disk drive users there is only a half list space can be used. So when you look at the screen you will find upper half of the screen filled with the text and there is a few text in the bottom, the lower half of screen almost display nothing. It looks a little weird and uncomfortabe.
If the GUI have the scrolling effects function, the users will see the game name always displayed in the middle of the screen when scrolling in the game list. And users don't need to worry about finding game will become hard because there are only 8~10 games in the list and displayed in alphabetical order.
So maybe we could creat a FMCB style theme, like this beta PS2PSXe GUI made by Berion:
Maybe the Scrolling Options can be added in OPL Display settings
The users can choose turns on the scrolling effects or not.
---Configure Scrolling options
---Scroll Menu : ON Default setting turns on the scrolling effects
OFF disables scrolling effects
---Displayed Items : 7 Default setting 4 to 10 items can be selected
2. "Sound effect"
Is it possible to add switch/scroll sound for the GUI?
Add this function will make the GUI unstable?
Just like the FMCB installer sound effect when switching between Installer Options. (the sound shows in the video 0:31 to 0:50)
* The users can choose turn off the sound if they don't like it.
I think the sound effect is necessary when the users want to delete or rename the game.
According to the saying all above, almost all questions related to FMCB GUI, is it possible to borrow some GUI codes from FMCB sources for embeding OPL GUI sources?
