ps2 usb stick or usb hdd
hello to everyone at psx scene, hope u all get a good christmass and a peacefull low action filled new year
and now 2 my question :
i have slim ps2 70004 pal. with fmbc 1.8
ii used my 2gig usb stick to some small ps2 games, like capcom vs snk 2, it was around 200 mb, and 2 other games around 1.6 gigs. those games i could play them when i installed them on my usb stick with open usb loader 0,41.
also all the neogeo games i installed. (i know it works by neo emu)
my question is, is there a compatibility difference between a usb stick and usb hdd??
or is it just important at the very start, (if the ps2 have already read the usb hd then it is compatible no matter what ?) also sms media player can read my saved movies in the usb hd, and ulaunchelf can read it too. even open ps2 loader can read my usb hdd, thats the reason it can show my games, but all of them is unplayable. only contra works fine in usb advance...
my usb hdd is a 250gb transcend storejet USB HDhttp://compareindia.in.com/media/ima...et_25m_big.jpg
this is my hd under a tyre

ps 2 loader v.05
why does open ps2 loader v0.5 dont work. i only get BSOH. black screen of hell :D
-
It does work, but apparently is just doesnt work for you.....perhaps if we knew more about how/what you do to boot it may give us a clue on why it dont work for you.
But from just telling us it aint working for you doesnt help us to know why.

According to my crystal ball, it says disable your mod chip.

It doesn't matter what USB device you use in theory. Some claim that certain brands have problems. The only usb drive I had problems with is my 16GB Sony Microvault. I have about 15 USB drives, Sony, Sandisk, Lexar. They all work exept for the 16GB sony Microvault.
The biggest thing to note is that its formatted in FAT32 or 16. As for USB stick VS USB hard drive. It will load the same speed since the PS2's USB port is 1.1 and it bottleneck the data. So your usb drive could be 2.0 (make sure its backwards compatible with USB 1.1) But when it goes into the PS2 USB port its forces to 1.1 speeds.

hehe bootlegninja, i command you to throw your crystal ball, cuz i dont own any modchip in my ps2, its a very standard console...
i have fmcb, i have installed open ps2 loader 0.41. in my mc/boot/
and have made a osdsys shortcut, so i choose it from the menu , as usb advance, they work just fine.
i did the same with the new 0.5. saved it in mc/boot. and in usb, no help ,
the elf shows me black screen.. i know how to run an elf file...

yes but it cant be true that almost all my games, dont work, then whats the point of usb loader... when it cant run anything. so there must be something wrong with my HD ? maybe it reads the USBHD first, and then it cuts it out ??? so why it cant run any games??? bcause it can read it in ulaunchelf and in open ps2 loader, it shows the game that is installed on the USBHD.... but example, gt4 and cod5waw they run in like 1 min, and then . BLACK SCREEN-.. GT4 goes back to pink screeen. after it shows some scenes from the game. cod5waw does the same after it loads player profile.

according to my crystal ball, I don't read minds. you want a decent answer, supply good details of your setup.

Have you checked that your games are compatible with USBAdvance? It could be that the games you're trying to play are incompatible.
How did your rip your games? It could be a bad rip.
Is your memory card an original Sony? It could be a problem with the memory card.

Give the OPen PS2 Loader Project .5 a go. It has much better compatibility than the shitty ol USBA, lol
