    RandQalan,

game "Star Ocean" has started but same problem as with "Ace Combat 5" -- PS2 controller does not work, no response on any button presses.

    Not sure what is wrong????

At the moment I can watch a nice intro movie and reset PS2 through "Power" button on front panel.

Did anybody faced such problem before?

thanks "mode6" did the trick -- game "Star Ocean" started but intro movie has some stattering. Not sure if it is bandwidth related (SMB) or HDD (defragmentation on server).

    Thank you for your help.

    Arghat,

well VMS is disabled in "Setup". I even checked that there is no files in VMS for SLUS_208.51.

I would like to know why it works for you but not me????

Do you use VMC (Because I don't, I use Memory Card in Slot 1 and 2 for my game save)? Is it the official 0.8 version, or some later un-official release? (Because I tested those game on the official v0.8 and not on later revision). Also my PS2 is a PAL model but I doubt it is the problem.

I doubt that a not so good rip could be the problem but anyway for Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War (SLUS-20851) the redump MD5 is "8FCC89EAF8A5481BCE65EF713D42A6C1" and my dump got the same MD5.

I am starting to think you have a controller port problem or you PS2 controller is faulty
Star ocean works fine for me from SMB and internal HD

suggestion try a real PS2 Game and see if same problem

    V10 SCPH-50001 with Network adapter SCPH-10281 500 G HD
    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred
Is how all good gaming systems came to be

    Hi,

Same as RandQalan, I think you have a hardware problem on your PS2, all those game start fine on my 3 PS2 (2 FAT and 1 Slim) and no controller problems.

Some games require Dual Shock 2 controller(like the info about FF12/Kingdom Hearts say).
If you don't plug such controller, the game won't accept any key and either will give you message that you have to plug such controller or don't give you any message and you'll start wondering why it's not working.

Star Ocean 3 also require Dual Shock 2 controller

And btw,IGR don't care if you are using Dual Shock 1 or 2 controller. As long as the controller have Analog mode,IGR will work.
