    Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place or if already exists somewhere a question similar to mine (if it exists, I could not find).

    Well, to the point, I'm having some problems regarding the use of VMC on a Slim PS2 SCPH-90006 with Matrix Infinity Modchip v1.93.

    OPL loads the list of games perfectly, so far all are playable with great speed, but my problem (as said before) is the use of VMC. OPL can not create the .bin file of the VMC, the message "Failed to format VMC file" keeps showing up every time.

    I'm using Windows 7 and here is a screenshot of my PS2SMB folder:

    And here is a picture of the message:

    I hope you can help me, I would like to use this function of the OPL.

    Now thanks and once again, sorry if I posted in the wrong place.

    Try checking the highlighted box:

    Also, make sure the PS2SMB folder isn't set to 'Read Only'.
    PS2 Consoles:
    SCPH-39001 - DMS4 Pro S.E.
    SCPH-39001 - Duo 3 Ultra

    I've tried checking the "contole total" box, still giving the same error.

    About uncheck "read only" ( "somente leitura" on my language ), I also tried this, but Windows 7 will automatically check it again with a blue square. I do not understand why this happens.

    There are lot's of people having problem configuring the PS2SMB share and settings the correct rights on files with windows (whatever version it is).

    I think remember it is advised to use/create a specific user and not "guest"/everyone account.

    I'm sure there will be other experienced users on this forum that can help you further.

    Maybe updating the network guide would be good too.

    Problem solved!

    What I did was:

    Right click on the disk where the folder "PS2SMB" is ( but i think doing this only on the PS2SMB folder will get you the same results ).

    Click "Properties" then go to "Security" tab, click "Edit":

    click "Add":

    click "Advanced":

    click "Find Now":

    on the list that appeared I select "Everyone" and clicked "OK":

    It returned to the small previous window, clicked "OK":

    Again it returned to the previous window, I selected "Everyone" on the list and checked the option "Modify" in the bottom of the window:

    Then clicked "OK" again and close all other windows that were still open.

    Pronto! VMC created!

    I hope this will help others that maybe have the same problem!

    And once again, thank you all for the support and thank the developers for the excellent work on this app!

    Hello guys.

    Now that i got the VMC feature working flawlessly, i have another question:

    Is there any way to transfer my savegames from my physical memory card to the VMC "*.bin" file?

    What I did was to use OPL to create a blank, formatted VMC file. Then, on my PC, I duplicated it as many times as necessary (in my case, I made four total - a "blank" for later use if necessary, one for Guitar Hero games, one for Rock Band games, and one for everything else, all 8MB). Then, I copied the VMC files onto a pen drive and used uLE to mount them as vmc0: (with my physical card in mc1:). From there, it's just like copying saves to any other MC. Once the VMC file is populated with the desired saves, then press Select in uLE to quit out of the filebrowser, and to be safe I rebooted the PS2 to (in my case) my FMCB install.

    Then, you can copy the newly filled VMC files back to your SMB share's VMC folder, and then make sure to assign that file as the VMC file for the desired games. If you have many games installed, you can speed things up by copying mc?:/OPL/conf_vmc.cfg to a pen drive and editing it on a PC, each line is in the following format:

    Code:
    SLUS_XXX.XX_1_0=VMC filename
    Where SLUS_XXX.XX is of course the (non-DNAS) game ID, as seen in the OPL ISO naming scheme and the game disc main ELF file. Not sure the functionality of the _1_0 portion, perhaps it comes into play if you want to use different VMC files for different games with the same ID (think Guitar Hero custom discs, etc - I have like ten different SLUS_214.47 ISOs but they only need one entry in conf_vmc.cfg to all use the same VMC file). VMC filename is of course the filename of the desired VMC file (minus the extension part). So, in my case, for AC/DC Live Rock Band Track Pack, I have this line:

    Code:
    SLUS_218.48_1_0=Rock Band

    @LocalH:
    Congratulations! You seem to have managed this quite well on your own.

    I'm posting now mainly to tell you that the _0 and _1 suffixes you wondered about are mainly intended to make it easier to use VMC both for MC slot 1 and slot 2. As you know the VMC configuration entries in OPL will automatically be filled in with a default name if you select them when empty, and that name will then consist of the game ID and _0.bin for MC slot 1, but for slot 2 the suffix will be _1.bin instead.

    This makes it very easy to enter individual names per game for both slots with an absolute minimum of manual 'typing'.

    If you really meant that the program added BOTH the _0 and the _1 suffix to a single name, then that is a bug which will have to be fixed...

    But in any case using those names and suffixes is completely optional, and you can enter whatever names you please, as long as you avoid using identical names for both slots of a game.

    Best regards: dlanor

    Thanks for the reply!

    I did as you say, it was pretty simple.

    But when I try to load the game with the VMC it says that "the data on Memory Card 1 is corrupted".

    The game is .hack//G.U. Vol. 2//Reminisce ( SLUS 214.88 ).

    Did you make sure to exit from uLE's file browser before unplugging your pen drive? It's my understanding that causes uLE to unmount all mounted VMCs, and could potentially be causing problems. Either that, or the game isn't compatible with the use of a VMC?
