one thing is what version of Open ps2 loader are you useing (i'm guessing here that your useing the relesed version 0.7) which dosen't support subfolders with 0.7 everything has to be in the main root dir of whatever media your useing to store your games
if you want to try your hand at compileing your own beta version of OPL goto this link http://psx-scene.com/forums/f150/dow...ile-opl-63778/ (Download Ubuntu Virtual Machine + enviroment to compile OPL)
and follow the instructions its rather easy when you look in that link you will see two version you can download one is alot bigger but easier to use which is loki7777's version Yoshi314's version is pretty easy to use to just his version is all done through command prompt once you learn how to compile your own then subfolders will work if you want to use the direct ISO (disk image) copying of games on to your drive you will need to make two subfolders one being DVD for DVD media games and the other being CD for CD media games but keep in mind you will need to properly rename the ISO for that to work too ( I personally don't use that method cuz i find it just as easy to install the games useing eather winhiip or USBUtil Version 2.00)
I don't know much about the USB end of any of thoes programs but i'm pretty sure the ul.cfg file is the configuration file for all the games you have or going to put on your USB drive not just for each game but will hold all the info for every game
i say again i'm not 100% sure about the USB part of your question since i never use it but i'm pretty sure thats how it works

no useing version 2.1 would be just fine just 2.00 is the one i have always used
and if your useing OPL 0.7 will be just fine for most games but just to let you know there have been quite a few game fixes and new features added to the beta revisions of OPL through which you can get by compileing OPL yourself through that link i sent you
if you can get the VM running and ready you will want to use the Ifcaro version but you will need to replace the one you see on the VM desktop with the one in this link
