Problem: Open PS2 Loader Network Games
Problem: Open PS2 Loader Network Games –
05-23-2012,11:05 PM
Hi forum, greetings from Venezuela, i hope someone could help me out with this problem i'm facing right now, i'm trying to use Open PS2 Loader v0.8 Network Games, the program boot up correctly, no issue whatsoever, but here it comes my problem, when i try to connect my ps2 to my PC's HDD using "Network Games" it won't work, the icon at the bottom of the screen that spins, remains there forever, whish is obviously a sign that something is wrong.
I have tried everything, but first let me show you my Network Config:
-PS2-
IP: 192.168.1.106
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
-PC-
IP: 192.168.1.105
Port: 445
Share: PS2SMB
user: GUEST
password:
That's the config i'm using right now, my router has established as initial ip 192.168.1.100, so all of my devices hooked up to my router has the same range of IP, my computer has 192.168.1.105, my cellphone has 192.168.1.102 etc., so that's why i gave that IP to my PS2 because no other device is using that IP, which is obviously free to be used, i also gave to my PC an static IP.
I'm using Windows 7 and i've tried everything, first i couldn't turn on network discovery which is one of the options that had to be on, so i went to services and enabled all of these options in order to be able to turn on network discovery and keep trying to connect my ps2 to my pc through Open PS2 Loader homebrew, these are the services i enabled:
DNS Client
Function Discovery Provider Host
Function Discovery Resource Publication
PnP-X IP Bus Enumerator
SSDP Discovery
UPnP Device Host
Finnally i was able to turn on network discovery and all of the other options from network and sharing in my operative system. I made an specific partition to host all my ps2 game , first i tried using NTFS and installed the games with USBExtreme and USBUtil, with USBUtil i had to change the name of the games using their code. Nothing happened, then i tried to save the .iso games into a folder, nothing happened, i tried to re-format the partition using NTFS and then using USBExtreme to re-format it in FAT32, same story, installed the games using both softwares in root and folders, and nothing happened, i disabled my firewall and any other kind of software protection, nothing happened.
I also tried to give the permissions to my partition and also to a folder named as PS2SMB inside of my partition, i gave all sort of permissions, and nothing happened, i still can't connect my ps2 to my pc. First i thought that the ethernet port of my ps2 was broken because i have my ps2 since 2004 (it's a slimline one, 7000x series), but i don't know how to figure this out, i tried to use the FTP from ulaunchELF and i couldn't connect my ps2 to my PC using the FTP, so i don't know if the ethernet port of my PS2 is broken, or i'm still missing something or doing something wrong, i wish someone could help me out with this since the laser of my PS2 it's almost dead and i can't play properly, so this is the last option and one of the best ones to keep playing with my ps2; i also wanted to mention that i used 3 differents ethernet cables and nothing,
I'm sorry for the long text, i hope someone could help me out with this, thank you so much.

Well one thing I noticed is this
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
should be this 193.168.1.100
to match router
You may want to read this

V10 SCPH-50001 with Network adapter SCPH-10281 500 G HD
PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred
Is how all good gaming systems came to be

IP setup looks fine, beside one glitch. You need to specify a password, when dealing with Windows7. Just use PS2SMB as password on pc and use it on PS2 side to connect. If you enter the password in latest OPL it should close settings on ok/reconnect silently. Thats a sign connection has been established.
You also don't need all those install tools, when using Network. Just copy the plain Decrypted isos to a Folder named DVD inside the drawer you made available over network. The Name is important. Sxxx_###.##.gamename.iso.
E.g. SLES_123.45.Racer.iso
You find the number on you DVD or you DVD game box. If the game is a CD, place the ISO file into a CD drawer using the same rules.

I did it and still nothing, and i don't think the gateway should be 192.168.1.100 because when I ipconfig with CMD i get that gateway it's 192.168.1.1

I donīt think that your problem is the password, cause i have Win7 too and play my games over SMB without passwords...
Have you set on your "shared" folder the "everyone" with "read/write" permissions??
If you play over SMB you donīt need to format the partition in FAT32. NTFS is supported....
You donīt need to install games with USBUtil/USBExtreme. ".iso" are supported, like "wazup640" said...
If you use an router, then it does not matter what Ethernet-cable you use, cause the router can handle with it....

I have tried using NTFS and FAT32 and none of them worked for me, i've tried to host the .iso files in folders and in the root, didn't work, i have set all kind of permissions to the PS2SMB folder and nothing, i don't know why.
There is something i wanted to mention, i'm using a linksys WRT54G2, this router has led indicators, when i plug an ethernet cable into one of the ethernet port of the router and it does have net activity the led lights ups and blink, but when i plug the ethernet cable into my ps2 and into the router nothing happens, i can't even ping my ps2 because i recieve no response from the device.
So i'm starting to think that the problem it's with my ps2 ethernet port, i think it might be broken, is there any way to test if the ethernet port of my ps2 works?.

Guys, i bought a new PS2 slim and now the hombrew works flawlessly, works great, but now i have some other questions.
1) The DataCode of my ps2 model 90001 is "2A", i've heard that "8B" and bellow are compatible with Free McBoot, i can install Free McBoot on my memory card but the only way i can boot it's from uLaunchELF, it won't load from my memory card.
2) There is a game in particular (GTA San Andreas) i want to load from OPL 0.8, the game loads correctly, BUT, it freezes when i use a .ISO format, if i install the game with USBExtreme the game works perfectly, why do you think this is?
