I think this might be where the problem is from. SATA drives might be incompatible with the USB drivers used in Open PS2 Loader. Remember its using drivers designed for the PS2 and there isnt any SATA support that im aware of in those drivers.

Maybe his converter cause problem, but then why he have the listing of USB games then ?
It means the USB drivers are compatible with his device.

It just added greater delay to let usb stuff init properly, as your converter seems to delay things, and it work at least.

Now about the games you tested, maybe you should check on compat list that other users are running it properly on PS3.
