Most people know the USB port on PS2 is v1.1, which only supports 1Mb/s.
I'm really glad to see my old PS2 can read from thumb drives. But it's really slow. Items appear in map suddenlty. and scenes is sometimes stagging.
And I find that raid0 can read multiple drives in the mean time, which means I can combine speed form two drives.
Was it possible to add Raid support in OPL?

i seriously doubt that it would help. the overhead of decoding the raid and reading from both USB then combining would probably negate any benefits you might assume you would get.
also the PS2 may be 1.1 but it never reaches the max speed of 1.1

    True,
but PS2 has amply RAM, buffer will reduce the overhead well.
Even the maxmum theoretical speed of USB1.1 is only numericallly equals to 0.6x DVD speed.

BTW even not with raid, buffer helps a lot.
    Does OPL has buffer?

    Ahoy!

The bottle neck is the USB 1.1.
No matter what you do, the speed is 12Mb/s...

Splitting the data between two USB ports would be neat, but probably wouldn't work too well.

It's all academic though since teh devs are unlikely to waste their time with something like that. Maybe if you offered to pay them, but if you've got that kind of money surely you can afford to buy a fat PS2, network adaptor, and a nice shiny HDD to enjoy discless PS2 gaming as God intended.

    (Psst, try SMB next)

And what if it's one bus with two (shared) ports...?!
And, yeah, samba or internal hdd is the way to have fun.

Well, we are not always loading data, so we can pre-read the data when in spare.

There is buffer on PSP PRO-B CFW, so I'm calling for same thing for PS2.

I wish I could SMB, but I am fat PS2 and I don't want to buy a NA.
Even I'm expert in OpenWRT, sigh.

Anyone who need helps about setting a USB capable router as SAMBA can ask me.

I believe PS2ESDL uses buffering (and other tricks) to reduce the impacts of the USB port's limitations. I don't forsee it being merged into OPL though. It hasn't happened in all the years it's been available.

It's even got its own subforum here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/ps2esdl/

That's your best short-term solution. And probably long-term too, since I'm not expecting to see a lot more work being done on USB loading. But who knows.

    You got the right idea.

But imagine the chaos that would occur if one of the disks was to... become inaccessible.

If the OP has a fat PS2, it is worth every cent to get a network adaptor (even a Chinese one, if it works well) as loading games from the HDD is just unbeatable, if available.
