    Hello,
I've recently decided to play again with my ps2slim (SCPH 70004) , and decided to install FMCB, despite a small flaw (can't disable the modchip hence I get the looping screen) I can start the file manager and set up my computer.

I followed the instructions in the user guide, and my PC and PS2 can communicate, I am able to ping it. However, when I go to the open loader menu, the list is empty, despite me having games into the PS2SMB folder.

-The folder name is in caps, and it's located in my secondary HDD (D.
-The folder contains 2 sub-folder called CD and DVD, names are in caps for those too.

-The game I am trying to get working is Valkyrie Profile 2, it is located in the DVD folder and it's called SLUS_214.52.VP2.iso.

-Folder is shared (using windows 7) right clicked on it, selected share with, added everyone to the list and gave it reading permissions. I checked the sharing also for the subfolders within and the iso file and all of they are shared.

At this point I am running short on ideas of what could exactly not be working, so I am asking for your help. Thanks in advance.

U mean the opl setting? Or the game listing.

-The game I am trying to get working is Valkyrie Profile 2, it is located in the DVD folder and it's called SLUS_214.52.VP2.iso.
    sound ok to me

must enable both sharing with.. and advance sharing.

I mean the game list, comes out empty. I am positive the connection between my pc and ps2 is working. I can ping it, and in netstat the connection shows as "estabilished".

I've shared the folder even in advanced sharing, but the result is still the same. I start OPL (ETH device start mode is set on Auto) press start and the Network Games screen that comes up is just a blank screen apart from the folder with dual shock icon on the top left.

Sound like the crossover cable setting problem. Btw R u using crossover or router?

If it is a cable. Then an alternate way is opening the device manager. Search device manager. Open it and go to network adapter. Then, choose ethernet. Go to advanced tab and enable all to tx & rx enabled. If u don't find this value then don't change it and speed duplex must always at auto negotiation. Done.

Also, turning off firewall is the easiest way or u know how to allow the connection without turning it off.

1 more, go to open network and sharing center and then to the change advanced sharing center. Find network discovery. Turn it on.

Hope it ll work coz i hve no more idea.

I've tried with both: crossover cable and straight cable connecting my second pc ethernet port directly to ps2 (my pc has one of those auto recognizing adapters that automatically cross the signal) both with crossover and straight, I do get them to connect but no games showing.

So, I've tried by passing through my router using the straight cable obviously, and the same thing is happening. Ps2 gets the ip, I can ping it from windows just fine and in netstat shows this:

Protocol Local Address External Address Status
    TCP 192.168.1.47:445 192.168.1.50:7175 ESTABILISHED

192.168.1.47 is my computer's IP, 192.168.1.50 is PS2's. Port 445 is open on my router and firewall is deactivated.

Tx & Rx are enabled on the adapter I am using, auto negotation for speed duplex is on. In the advanced sharing center, network discovery is on aswell.

    1. Which Username is used in OPL and for the share?
    2. Is this user-account activated?
    3. Try to mnually assign the account to the sharing-rights, instead of simply 'Everyone'-Usergroup...

Hello, and thanks for taking time to reply.

1)In OPL the username is Guest (I changed it to have uppercase and lowercase match exactly just in case it had some influence)
2)Yes, my guest account is activated in windows
3)I've tried it, both in normal and advanced sharing, the guest account has permission to read from that folder.

However still the same problem is happening, connection is estabilished between pc and ps2, but the network games list stays empty. I've backed up my iso from my discs, renamed them as the tutorial instructed and slapped them into the DVD folder, do the iso require any special treatment?

I am 90% sure the .ISO are good, because I can open them with a PS2 emu. (but then again, back with PSX you could have PSX emulator boot and run iso that won't have worked on an original PSX.)

I suggest don't use an guest account try your regular account with your password in OPL, share the folder with full access to only your account.
If the games won't be listed after you activated the network in OPL try start up and shutdown HDL-Server (if available in your OPL version).

    Or use uLE for starting:

    1. start the networkfunctions in uLE
    2. start OPL from uLE and immediately activate network in OPL if it is not on automatic startup.

I've encountered such problems some times on my 100% working network setup. Sometimes all participating devices need a little more time to "see" each other and play nice along.

These are my methods if OPL isn't nice to me

U forgot to turn off ur firewall maybe. Coz u don't say it in ur last post :P. Some firewall or antivirus product are just wont turn its function off and u must restart ur pc.

Maybe ur problem might be in component services. Search it and find network or sharing related service. Then, turn it on if disable or haven't started yet. U can always choose from automatically starting an disabling it.

Haha i dont remember how i solve the smb problem. But as what i remembered i come through the component services.

EDIT: I solves most of my pc cases in component services.

But if u sees the services something like 'this will make ur network sharing require a password' disabled or stopped it if started. Its only between pc and another pc can do it. Not pc and ps2

Ah, forgot... and it might be the cause of your issue(s)...
Put an empty ul.cfg-file into the share.
OPL 0.8 still has this bug and it was fixed in betas.
