OPL and VMC setup on internal HDD
OPL and VMC setup on internal HDD –
09-06-2010,02:01 PM
I have OPL working with VMC support on my PS2 with an internal HDD. Everything works great! I also have the VMC bin files (specifically 8mb VMC) and I was wondering where to put them. From reading here, it sounds like a need to make a separate partition called OPL with a folder called VMC, then call the actual VMC file with the corresponding name file such as SLU-...VM0.bin However, you cannot make a separate partition for an internal hdd correct? So specifically for an internal PS2 HDD where do you place the VMC files?
Thanks!

You never mentioned what revision of OPL you're using. If you're using the latest public release (0.7), then the VMC won't work as this is something that is being currently integrated into beta revisions.
So you can either compile your own revision with VMC support or wait for the next public release.

I compiled the latest version with VMC support using linux - I guess whichever is the latest SVN. I'm just trying to figure out how to place the VMC on the PS2 internall hdd - is there a specific default directory? and if so, how do I access the directory structure of the HDD.
Thanks!

That could take a while, right? When was the 0.7 release?
I'm getting my memory card in a few days, I hope compiling beta builds isn't hard....

To make a separate partition uLauchELF then filebrowser then MISC then HddManager then RI then Create Then name OPL
Well finally back out when done file browser again then hdd0:/ +OPL Create VMC folder then put your memory card bin in VMC folder.

0.7 was released about 3 months ago. With all the new features they've been coming up with, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new release next month. But this is just wishful thinking on my part.
I will be compiling and testing out one of the new revisions next month when I pick up an external HDD to back up my current dual-boot rig. Hopefully the changes that have occurred since the last revision I tested are as good as I expect.

The app runs great now has a very high compatibility and loads and connects faster to SMB mode.
Big improvements over public beta.
