OPL SMB feature not working for me...
Hello, first of all I am no beginner in network management and such. However I am a new to the PS2 scene.
I have a v12 PSTwo fitted with a ModBo 760 and installed FCMB on a genuine Sony 8MB memory card using the Unofficial FMCB 1.8c installer (lastest rev, 0.93A I think).
I want to use OPL to load my games of SMB on a share on my computer.
Naturally, I disable my ModBo when booting my console.
I have tried alot of different configs and versions of OPL (0.7 0.8 and few latest rev I compiled myself) and none of them seems to work good... Here is my network config, all wired network:
PC( PS2SMB share)<====>Router(DI-604)<=(crossover)=>Generic 8-ports 10/100 hub<====>PSTwo(in fact, all my consoles are there: Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3...)
I have a PS2SMB share (guest enabled) along with other SMB shares on my Linux Mint 32bit computer. I can say that the communication is working between the PC and the consoles since I can play video files from a SMB share (different than PS2SMB) on my Xbox using XBMC. I also tried enabling a guest enabled PS2SMB share on a windows XP system (dual boot so same network config) just to check. The results are the same for both OS:
Network initialization works and I can see on the hub that the ETH device wakes up on my PSTwo. Now this is where it gets funky. Sometime I will see my games for a brief period of time before they disappear. Some other time the games will stay there but the little circle that indicates activty in the right bottom corner of the screen won't stop ( I let it work for wuite some time). When I try to load a game it says loading config (on newer revs) and the PS2 seems to freeze (analog red led on controller turns itself off also).
With the lastest rev, I tried leaving the share name setting blank and OPL does list all the shares on my network. But from there, when I select PS2SMB I get the same results as described above when I'm not getting any network initialization error.
I was wondering if it had been tested that OPL can load games over a full network or do I really need to connect my PSTwo directly to my PC using a crossover cable? Also, do I really need to disable my ModBo 760 or is it confirmed that a ModBo 760 won't cause any issue with OPL?
Do I need to install ESR for OPL to work? I don't think so but you never know :chinscrat
I just need some clarification here because it's driving me crazy.
