    Hey guys,

i have a problem, it is this; i have been using opl normally until today when i plugged my hdd into my ps2 while the ps2 was on then moved over to opl started it normally but then it just kept loading really long and then it became stuck on that little loading circle in the bottom corner of the screen and wouldnt continue anymore
what can i do to fix this?
i know there are alternatives to opl like usbadvance and the new ps2esdl but i need opl to work because i mainly use that to test if my hdd is working so any help to get it working again for me is appreciated
    thanks in advance

Sounds like your saying your PS2 was ON and you plugged in a USB HDD, then started OPL...right?

Have you tried to just turn off the PS2, re-start it , then start OPL again?

Ive had the "circle" go on forever on me before too, but found it was due to having a configuration set to auto-start one of the device loaders (usually network) and found i wasnt connected.

If you have USB HDD set to auto-start in OPLs configs, then it might just have been that the device wasnt ready when OPL started. Ive since set all to manual and run the one i want at the time.
    PS2 Consoles:
    SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
    SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
    SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

yes thats it =( and i think it bricked my opl in the process but im not sure and yes just as you i also had my auto settings on for all of the options includding apps eht and usbhdd yes and since then it just keeps loading the circle in opl on and on forever so is there anyway to reset the opl settings manually? because i also took a fresh copy of opl from my usb stick and replaced the one already in my boot folder on my memorycard and that yielded the same results just loading forever =( any help appreciated
and thanks a ton for the reply!^^

Try PS2ESDL, I have had alot of issues with OPL so i deleted that crap and tryed ps2esdl and its works great.
Alot of games i tried playing with OPL lagged in both gameplay and videos and sometime froze but when i switched all that went away. It doesnt have a great gui but it works fine.

Why is it that it must be OPL.....

Have you set it to detect Games via usb in settings and set it to auto and save settings. then click start and see if it loads your games list.

I hope im on the right track to helping you with your problem.

i did set it to detect games i set it all to auto including eth and now my opl simply wont boot anymore(because somehow i bricked my opl by plugging in my hdd while my ps2 was on as i stated in my first post) it just keeps loading and loading and even before it got stuck on the loading it didnt recognize my hdd either no matter what

If you have uLaunchELF, you can use that to delete your config files for OPL. Then when you re-start OPL it should be back to "factory" settings and you can then configure it as you want.

I know OPL has gotten a bit more 'technical', but it is still a great app once you get the hang of it. I cant say much about PS2ESDL as i only checked it out a few times and for me, it didnt perform any better with the particular games i have than OPL did. But it is a great app worth checking out if you plan to only use a USB HDD, as im sure there are plenty of games that will run better than from OPL.

The only way you could "brick" OPL is if the OPL file has become corrupted and that can be fixed by deleting it from where you have it stored and replace it with a fresh copy of OPL.

But i suspect the problem lies in the configuration files. I would delete all of them from every location you placed them in and start fresh with a fresh copy of OPL, then go from there.

oh i didnt know i can use ulaunchelf to do that~ i'll try it out thanks^^
yeah i tried out esdl too and sadly i cant say how it is since my hdd wont be recognized by esdl either nor opl and this is another problem that i am having is that my HDD will not get recognized no matter what i do not even ulaunchelf recognizes it.
