OPL network startup error 300
Good god, I hope somebody here can help me.:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm: I have been trying to set up an SMB share for OPL to run games off of my computer, and have been headbutting the 300 error for like 10 hours now. I am using Win7 x64 pro, FreeMCboot 1.8, and tried both ps2loader 0.8 and 0.9 booting from a flash drive, and my SMB folder is located at F:\PS2SMB, and my firewall is off. I have tried every conceivable troubleshooting step that is even tangentially related to OPL, such as:
Sharing by Right-click>properties
Sharing by Right-click>Share with
Sharing manually by setting permissions through Admin Tools>Local Security Policy
Creating a new user on my computer with a password (PS2Share) JUST for the OPL network config to connect
Using a variety of different SMB folder names and permissions combinations
Using different ports to share through, including a random one (451) and a specifically unused one (12)
Forwarding ports to my Computer's static IP for the above ports through both TCP and UDP
Adding exceptions to Windows firewall, rules to windows firewall, specifying to firewall to allow just the PS2Share user to connect with no bullshit
...as well as probably a sizable number of straws grasped at in the form of other benign tweaks that had little to no chance of working. I can ping my PS2 with no packet loss through CMD, but here's the real kicker: Once, and only once, It gave me error 302, which, as you know, is the "invalid share name" error; I changed the share folder to PS2SMB, WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN TRYING THE MOST FREQUENTLY WITH, AND IT WORKED ONCE FOR 3 MINUTES. I saved my settings, turned off my ps2 to go eat dinner, and come back to Error 300. :jawdrop::superfacepalm:
It runs 2 different games off of the USB drive itself consistently, so it's not my ps2, It ran a third game across the network with no problems other than some minor audio skipping in the attract mode video, but ran perfectly otherwise, so it's nothing seriously incompatible or anything. I have checked the compatibility list for all 3 and they are fully working. I have gone from :chinscrat to mildly irritated to frustrated to furious to livid to indifferent to apathetic and then back to interested in a loop for the last good while. I want this to work, and when it does work it's amazing. I don't want to give up on such a great idea/program, and want to spread the word to my friends. I can't do this, however, if I can't even get this working for myself.
To summarize, I am stuck with Network Startup Error 300 that's more persistent than if Nemesis was also a terminator, which happens under every group of settings under the sun, and is enough of a tease to work just once. I am willing to do whatever it takes to work through this if somebody can just give me a jumping-off point.
