Hi all, I'm new here
Ok so today I tried out OPL for the very first time. I got it installed and working fine no problem, but for some reason the games just don't show up or get detected by OPL.....oh btw I have a PS2 Slim v15 SCPH70002.
This is the guide I referred to:
Official OPLv0.8 User Guides
Basically, I followed all the instructions from top to bottom. I tried out every method listed and ONLY ONE worked. This is the part that worked for me (at the very bottom of the guide):
This is the original installer and was included with the USB Extreme tools for the original USB Extreme program. You can download it from above in the USB format section if you didnt already.
It is another command line installer, best placed on the C:\ drive , but only installs from the PC's CD\DVD drive.
Place your PS2 Game disc in the PC's CD\DVD drive
Click on the Start Bar and select run
Type CMD or command and then OK. The Command window should appear, so type in cd C:\ and then press the enter key.
You should now be in the C:/ directory, so type ul_install SourceDrive TargetDrive GameName CD/DVD (Example: ul_install D E MetalGearSolid DVD )
Press the enter key to start the installation
So ya, sure it worked but I'm trying to get OPL to detect the games in .iso format. I used all the suggested tools to convert my CD/DVD PS2 game to .iso, and then copied it to my USB flashdrive (which I formatted into FAT32 by following the guide as well). But it doesn't show up on OPL........I tried to change the name of the game to the "game_code" using iso2opl.exe and it still doesn't get detected by OPL. My game is Metal Slug which is only 378MB so there shouldn't have been any problems for it to be in .iso format.
So ya, what did I do wrong?? Also, I have a couple of other questions:
1. The "Defragmentation" part of the guide (at the very bottom) says this:
"USB Games must have the game files in an unfragmented state to run properly."
But then, in the same paragraph, it also says this:
"It is very important your game files are defragmented or they may not work properly and some cases have froze on a colored screen."
So which is it? The 2 sentences are a contradiction......can someone explain exactly what do you do here? Do you defragment the game files, or the entire USB flashdrive, or just don't defragment anything at all...??
2. How do I get the games to save their savefiles onto the USB and NOT the memory card?? There's no guide about this.......not that I could find anyway.
3. Lastly, which one is better out of the four:
-Open PS2 Loader
(or better ones that I don't know of)
I only want to use my PS2 to play games off of my USB flashdrive or external hardrive. I.e, I just want to use my PS2 to access the games through USB. Which one is the best for this?
Never mind, the .iso format DOES work. I didn't read it carefully enough, it says you need to create the folders "CD" and "DVD" and put it on the root of the flashdrive, and then put the games into whatever folder it belongs to, e.g. a 378MB game will go to CD and 2.3GB will go to DVD of course......and that the filename has to include the game_code as well.
