I don't want to be a party popper, but (to the OP) you can simply use an official SONY Component Video cable to obtain the RGB for your monitor.
You don't even need to mod the cable.
Because I own an Phillips Brilliance 109 monitor (an 19 inch monitor which has built in speakers) and it has BNC connectors on the back, I just purchased a set of BNC to RCA adapters (similar to those used on professional studios) and plugged the SONY cable there. Voila, RGB (Sync on Green) in it's full glory. No hacking required.
GSM on OPL ? Is there room for it on the PS2 memory ? If so, I'm in too !!!!
