please help. here are the games i've tried so far and yes they are from my own copies.

Gran turismo 3: sony computer entertainment presents... a black screen

D1GP: i get to see the D!GP title. then black

    gigawing generations: stuck on pink

    mercury meltdown: stuck on green

several others. nothing works past a title screen if it gets there.

    My Ps2 is SCPH-3001 R... freemcboot
I've installed the games using usbextreme.
some of the bigger games are installed in split files
simply opening the .elf file from my usb HD using ulaunchelf
i have openps2loader.elf in the same folder with usbadvance.elf is that a problem?
my usb hard drive is fat32. is that the problem?

of course im using 0.6. judging from all the praise i must be doing something wrong for all these games not to work.

    someone please help me out.

oh and most of these games do work with usbadvance

(edited) ok so even if all the games are listed as ok in usbutil2.0

yeah ok. i will delet some and reinstall. starting with ones that dont work for me in usbadvance.

i have deleted and reinstalled D1gp with usbutil2.0... still not work

yeah still nothing work. reinstalled gt3 and d1gp. in dvd mode of course.

    same thing... title screen

is there any certain option i should have on for most games that is turned off as default?

Can USBAdvance run any of those games?

If if can't run those games it SHOULD have been able to run, I think that your games are corrupted.

Also, when you defrag your games(Your disk MUST be defragmented for OPL 0.6 to work), make sure that there are no files that are fragmented(Windows defragmenter may leave some files fragmented).

NOTE: Even 1% file fragmentation is unacceptable to OPL v0.6.

Alternatively, if all else fails... delete and re-create your HDD's partition(And set it to active). Format it as FAT32.

I think that it's quite unlikely you have the same problem as the minority of us(White screen only for all games/Yellow screen for OPL 0.6), as you can run some games and see some graphics.

    @gp5:
Like SP193 said, fragmentation is one likely cause for your problem, as one of the speedup methods for the USB core of OPL is to eliminate FAT table lookup for all sectors except the first of each file. So if there is any fragmentation offset anywhere in a file, this will cause access to the wrong data for all sectors beyond that fragmentation point, and that will most likely crash any game.

Defragmenting such a drive can be a problem, because when you have a drive that is well filled most PC tools are horribly bad at defragmenting it, including the tools built into windows (they often give up with the job incomplete).

For such cases the best and fastest way of defragmenting is to copy ALL of the contents off that drive to some other drive (like a normal HDD), reformat the USB drive to FAT32, and then copy all the original content back again. Doing this with the normal Windows 'Explorer' file manager will ensure that the files are written back to the drive in unfragmented form.

NB: This might NOT work if you do not reformat the drive, as extra FAT allocation sectors may then keep their positions, dispersed over the total storage space, even if all real content was deleted. And then the files would again become fragmented at those points when writing them back to the drive. Only a reformat ensures that all fragmentation is gone. (Quick format is fine though, so use that.)

Another way of completely bypassing the fragmentation issue is to use LAN instead of USB. For LAN use this problem doesn't exist, as the physical storage drive is not accessed by the PS2 at all, but by the PC at the other end of the LAN connection.

So you can simply plug that same USB drive into your PC, and define that drive to be the PS2SMB fileshare that OPL will access for the network games listing. This will also allow better speed for most games than was possible with USB, due to the slow USB ports of the PS2. The LAN interface is much faster.

    Best regards: dlanor

Which D1GP do you have? Can you spell correctly the title? Becaus I have the D1 Professional Drift: Grand Prix Series (the Japanese release which I'm very proud to own thanks to ebay) and is running fine with OPL r243. Can't remember have I tried the offical 0.6 but I think that the OPL isn't the problem

i have the us version of the same game (yukes media). there's only one official D1GP game (in any region). SLUS 21416

and gran turismo 3 A-spec us. SCUS-97102 (blue one)

and yes my wd elements 640gb hd is absolutely full. Video games and lossless music. I've been needing another one to backup anyway. Can i reformat-defrag effectively with another usb hard drive?

and is NTFS out of the question? does it need to be FAT32

BTW thank you for all the support.

Yes you can try another USB HDD as long as that one is compatible with your PS2.

If you intend to play over USB with OPL the drive HAS to be FAT32

    Yes you can.

In this case your USB HDD can be NTFS too, FAT32 is only needed when using the USB option of OPL.
