    Hey everyone.

I've been having a pretty crappy time working with my softmodded PS2. It finally came to a head when OPL just stopped loading when I would boot it in uLaunchElf. Instead of going to the main screen, now it hangs on the loading screen, with the little loading wheel locked in place. I'm certain it doesn't have to do with overheating because the same will happen even after I first boot up my PS2. The USB stick isn't at fault either because it won't load on my main stick or a backup one. What can I do?

Try pressing X (while the opl splash is visible) if you get into the Settings, then OPL simply got stuck in network setup. Simply turn ETH into off mode and save.

I takes quite long, before it automatically enters standard GUI. AFAIR it was around 45 seconds, when you just wait until it timeouts and the gui appears.

If this is not helping, then unplug power supply (on console side if it is a Slim), press the power button a few times (this causes all capaciters being flushed). This will kill/randomize anything in memory/chip io. I once had a similar issue which was caused by a random hardware state.

    1. if you have updated OPL recently remove its configuration file from memcards. at some points this caused lockups for me.

    2. if you are building OPL by hand from source, make sure to do "make rebuild', otherwise it can hang.

deleting the cfg files worked, thanks!

but now it won't recognize my USB drive. USBAdvance does, but OPL doesn't acknowledge anything. It's formatted to FAT32 and everything.

With the cfg files deleted, if you are able to get OPL to load and get into the Settings menu, make sure the USB device start mode is set to "Auto".
