it's been a while since i've tested OPL, the last time i tested it was it can only play USButil format for usb option. Now it can also play ISO format on usb.

i've just recently compiled rev455 and been wondering can i combine USButil format/USB advance and ISO format on a single external HD? sorry if it has been asked before.

Yes you can have both ISO and USBUtiil format on Sigle External drive or PS2SMB folder

Hi all.... what about fat32 limitations? Is it possible to have a 4gb iso on a ext hdd?

Where should i put this iso?
    Example : usbroot://godofwar2.iso

    Will this work. ?

Ps. I am sorry if i had to search on this before posting. Its not that easy from a phone, even if its android. My htc tattoo cant compare with my 58 big screen .

Thanks to all who have contributing on ps2/3 scene.. all members and devs / admins last but not least Dr. Dlanor.

The ISO images need to be placed in FOLDERS named DVD and CD on the root of your USB drive
They also need to be named in a proper format. There is a tool on here somewhere in this thread called fixiso.exe that I have used that when placed in the DVD folder and ran will rename them properly.

As for the >4gb ISO images you will still need to use USBUtil v0.2 to install them on USB drive.
You will find that tool in the HDD section of this forum under PS2 heading.

This older post by dlanor shows how to put the ISO images on your USB or PS2SMB and shows the renaming scheme

I am sure there are more posts explaining but I just can't find them at the moment.

I just want to say thankyou to all the people who have contributed to the Open PS2 Loader in each and every way. From code developers (<3) to the people who are on these boards helping set up build enviro's.
It truly is amazing amzaing work and to believe its open source to boot. This is the single most important app to have ever come to the PS2.
To play Jak and Daxter Precursor over SMB 100% flawless is a dream and joy to behold.
Thanks!!!! Keep up the awesome work.

Two simple ways exist to fix this problem:

1: Check the file properties of that ISO file in the fileshare folder, and go into the "Security" tab of that dialog box. Here you use the "Add" button to add another user group to have access permissions set. And in the popup box for user selection you should then use the "Advanced" button, which opens yet another popup where you should use the "Find Now" button, to open a list of user groups where you should select "Everyone". Then you back out again using the OK buttons and don't forget the "Apply" button of the top level dialog box. (NB: This description is valid for WinXP. Other OS => other methods...)

I used this method a lot at first, when anonymous SMB logon was all we had...

2: The best method is to reconfigure OPL network settings to use your real user account on the PC for SMB logon, which gives OPL the same access rights that you would have when using the computer. So whatever access rights you had to create that ISO in the first place should also allow OPL to access it without any future problems. So this method solves it for all ISOs in one fell swoop...

    Best regards: dlanor
This is in regard to the security added in 361? Could someone explain to me why this was added and how it works? I did notice the GUEST and <blank> field in the SMB options....and just deleted GUEST. What can I use in these fields if I already set up the SMB share on Win7 for "everyone". White screen is a user issue, I read.

I use my windows username and password but make sure to give folders permissions the same as user name password more protection.
This might be an answer...i don't know yet. But shouldn't it work with GUEST <blank>, since I've given permission to "everyone"

Also what mercurial command can I use to get a VM build from crazy? Can someone recommend a revision? I see...crazy C has a compltely different URL: http://bitbucket.org/crazyc/open-ps2-loader. I mercurial clone from there a new directory and build that instead. Very tricky.

After r361 I just left it as Guest using Windows 7 x64. Mine works fine.

You can use the OPL latest revisions or use crazyc VMC build depending upon what you want to do.

They won't be merged until the devs feel it is time for it.
