does anybody experience problems loading a game via USB with the recent revisions?

it seems weird for me that 2 of my IDE to USB device freeze to a yellow screen when loading a game with rev 242 and 243 but my 2.5 HHD sata to USB enclosure, SATA to USB dongle and USB flash drive works with no problem.

but when i use the old rev that i'd complied (forgot which rev..but i belive it before 242) all works fine in USB game loading

i can't compile yet at linux since i'm geeting errors setting up a dev environment.

    @ JNABK
if so, why all the trouble having on playing GH/RB/GOW and all other dvd9 titles
actually i dont see this working

    what i've done:
    - origial dvd rip (dvddecrypter) - ok
    - checked both iso layers (apache3) - ok good copy
    - loaded on usb hdd (usbutil) - ok
    - disk defragmented (powerdefrag) - ok
    - tryied with all compatibility modes (OPL 0.6) - green, runs game, stop at layer1.

cant figure out whats wrong, if OPL is designed to read second layer then whats the failing here?

Isn't there a way to play games just as they should be played 100% quality,
since we have space on our ps2 dedicated hdds....

    btw im using :
    - ps2 slim v16 non modded.
    - freeMCboot v1.8b
    - uLaunchElf v4.40
    - Open Ps2 Loader v0.6
    - 320gb usb

Got to say that i love OPL, cant wait to see whats on next version !
    Thanks for reply !

Well, i cant guess where its failing, as your the one having a problem, so tell us what the games are doing, are they playing fine, then suddenly stop? Are they blackscreening? Are they freezing on a specific colored screen? Do they all do the same thing, .......what?

Also take into account it might not have anything to do with the layer part, it might just be incompatible with OPLv0.6.

I have both GOW and GOW2 and both seemed fine to me, but i didnt go playing them for hours either though, so until you tell us what is going on that lead you to think they arent working there aint much anyone can do to help. So tell us what is happening, then we can begin to try helping figure out the problem and if it can be fixed or not.

does anybody experience problems loading a game via USB with the recent revisions?

it seems weird for me that 2 of my IDE to USB device freeze to a yellow screen when loading a game with rev 242 and 243 but my 2.5 HHD sata to USB enclosure, SATA to USB dongle and USB flash drive works with no problem.
I get a yellow screen for all my games on my 2.5-in IDE HDD. I get white screens for OPL v0.5/0.6... which seem to be incompatible with my USB case (Which through PS2ESDL's development I've found that it doesn't seem to like frequent 4096 byte/8-sector reads).

The late v0.6 (Public release version) gives me a Yellow screen, even if I had defragmented my HDD.

I believe that these problems are caused by OPL being incompatible with certain USB cases (Maybe because of the way it requested reads, but I can't say for sure)... especially cheap cases.

One problem I think OPL will have in the future if it doesn't get patched:
It won't work with drives with a sector size that is not 512 (Some new HDDs have sector sizes of 4096). Most drives nowadays have 512-byte sectors, but new ones in the future most probably won't (Some non-HDD USB disks don't have 512-byte sectors either).

but when i use the old rev that i'd complied (forgot which rev..but i belive it before 242) all works fine in USB game loading
Only the older OPNUSBLD v0.41 (Predecessor to OPL) which used the USBAdvance modules work properly for me (USBAdvance included). PS2ESDL v0.714 works too.... but I can't really say why (It also uses USBHDFSD + USBD like OPL does).

    @ JNABK

thanks for the attention i know how dificult it is to get everyone happy with all the dificulties out there....

i think my case is simple and not rare, since my configuration is not modded, no chips, no altered software ......
for example guitar hero (ALL of them, after guitar hero III) aren't fully working since they are dvd9....
what happens is that it loads ok, the loading colors are always returning to green, no trouble there,
it only get stucked when loading a song from the layer1, it freezes.... the disk stops blinking also, so no reading....
i have checked with usbutil the files in the game, and they are all there ...
    ...
all the games that i've modified with ripkits, to get them smaller dvd5 (wich i personaly dislike) runs with no problem (of course that sucks on quality! removed itens, etc) ...

so my question is, is there any special way that must be done ?
if you need some other points that i could mention, any tests, debugging logs (i actually don't know how to get them. if possible), etc, please let me know...

once again thank you for care!

Did you try anything besides Guitar Heroes? I'll try to load a save of GoW1 or 2 that I know for sure is on the 2nd layer and will write back.

    =============

[Edit]: I tried a save before Pandora's bridge of GoW1 and crossed it successfully (transition to the 2nd layer is on the bridge) and a save at the end of the game, in the Olympus temple (on the 2nd layer) - worked fine. OPL v0.6., USB HDD.

So it seems it's either problem with your setup or just the games your tried.

Well actually i didn't try GOW2 (i just mentioned it because of the layer1) sorry for that..

the games i tryied with no success (and i mean on the second layer, so the game runs until it freezes) were:
    - rock band
    - guitar hero IV
    - guitar hero V

maybe this titles aren't compatible with OPL0.6..... maybe dvd checks procedures on it? dont have a clue...

i wish for a debuging way, some kind of...

    thanks
