ISO game list entry duplication
I see that recently some others have noted and reported the duplication of game list entries that occurs when using games installed simply by copying ISO files into the CD or DVD subfolders of an OPL game install directory.
But what they seem to have missed, and which I now want to emphasize, is that this is not just some random result, which can happen to any ISO you installed that way. Not at all...
It ONLY happens to one single ISO file in each of the two folders CD and DVD. So if you use both of those folders for games then you will have exactly two duplicate game entries in your total game list.
And the choice of which game entry will be affected is not at all random, in any way. It is simply the entry of the last file in each of those two folders, as sorted by the original full name. Which usually means as sorted by the Sony product codes, since those are used for the first part of each filename string.
So right now the duplicate entries I see in my SMB game list are "Tales of the Abyss (US) ISO" from the DVD folder and "Emu SNES - SNES_Station + ROMs" from the CD folder, because the full ISO filenames "SLUS_213.86.Tales of the Abyss (US) ISO.iso" and "SNES_EMU.OK.Emu SNES - SNES_Station + ROMs.iso" are the filenames that come last in each of those folders when sorted by name.
I'm still not sure why this happens, or why it affects the last files in the folders this way, but I have noted that it does work this way, not only for the current files mentioned above but also with other files when they were the 'last ones'...
I have only tested this with SMB core however, so I'm not sure if the same applies to USB (due to the dubious support in FAT32 I haven't used this install method for USB).
I need to make a small factual correction to the above, by mentioning that the "Tales of the Abyss" game is in fact not the current duplicate entry from the DVD subfolder in my game list, as that was just for a test setup I had. For my real setup the duplicate DVD entry is "+Sq KH3 Re CoM (US)" caused by the full ISO name "SLUS_217.99.+Sq KH3 Re CoM (US).iso" being the last entry in my DVD subfolder when name-sorted. But the principle remains the same.
