If there is such an option, it would have to be in the setup menu. I'm sure there's people like me who will like that, others like BLN who have been vocal about not wanting such a feature.
Customizing it just so you don't have the option of turning it on or off, wouldn't you think this is a wasted effort? The option would be in the setup menu, not the main menu, after all.

I'm just saying I won't be turning it off.
Of course there's an option to turn it off in the settings but really i think it's a huge improvement so why would you bother.

Well, my stance isn't actually against the feature itself, but the aspect of it consuming too much in system resources causing problems on functionality for cosmetics. I'm for it if it doesn't do that.

Currently less than 1 second delay to load the cover art.
and the icons make practically no difference.
Could come in handy if you wanted to play
"Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie" try fitting that text on a single line in OPL

Well, 1 second delay to load the covers, but how many covers do you have? There are people out there with way more games than others.
It may be a really nice feature for people without many games, but for those with 120+ games, the wait may prove to be too much.

It only loads the cover when you stop on the icon

Just to add some precise description:
- Icons are 64 pixels width, 64 pixels height, they load very fast, moreover in dynamic mode as only the displayed items are retrieved (thus 3 versus 10 in static mode).
- Covers are 140x200, which seems to be a common ratio for game jacket. I decided to show the cover only after a few millis of inactivity, as Volca did for compatibility hint. I used half the time.
In this way it will not slowdown the navigation until you stop on some item. You can see the real delay for loading the picture by looking at the waves freezing time.
Pictures naming is based on the games code for all mode, so you can share/copy easily your icons/covers.
There is an option to display the various icons/covers in the correct ratio for wide screen too.
Of course the option you see in the settings disable all the mod if you want. In this case there is no impact on OPL.
Thank you Sealhealy for your work on icons and videos !

Thanks for the clarification. If it's not affecting the program in any other way, I'm all for it. I just wanted to make sure that this wouldn't slow us down in the long run.
I appreciate the effort, Gilgamesh. Very nice work.

I tried (and hope succeeded
) to do all the changes to have no impact at all when disabled, and the less impact when enabled.

Good work gilgamesh88
I think forcing the IO to background would really help your code.
