I'm playing final fantasy X using ps2loader using SMB network. everything works alright except when I leave the playstation idle for 10 mins or more it lost the connection to the SMB and just hung on loading the next scene. Is this normal or even if I used the pause button it still hung after 10mins.

The 'pause' function of the game can not interact in any intelligent way with the networking (so as to keep a connection alive), since the game code is not aware of any networking at all. And the OPNPS2LD core drivers are not aware that the game is being paused.

It could be your server (PC or NAS) which shuts down a connection after some time with no transfer activity. If so, then you may be able to configure it to allow a longer time before responding that way.

I left loaded game several hours alone worked like a charm. In the first minute it may need more time to get the data loaded if the connection were dropped but i had no problem in continuing gameplay.

Same here, ive left a game running while i went off to eat and came back, resumed gameplay the same as if i never left. There was no lag or additional load for the game to resume.

I had a hunch it could be due to something like that.

But was it possible to configure this timeout to use a longer period, or is it a fixed behaviour that you can't change ?
