I found a bug in OPL 8: The Game list (at least HDD) doesn't list games with certain characters. Maybe a code page problem. For example:

    Original Game Name:
    SingStar Après-Ski Party

    OPL 8 Game Name:
    SingStar Apr

Maybe other characters have this problem, too. Maybe chars like ä,â,é etc.
I think this is a bug because WINHIIP, the program which I used to fill the HDD, displays those game names properly.

Disabling the IGR [OPL mode 6] will fix the GT4 controller issue...

    I'm aware of this problem.

There is a similar issue for SMB game list but I lack time to fix it currently.

In fact in your case, "é" is part of the subset characters that are compatible between the standard windows codepage, and the first 256 chars of the UTF8 spec.

However as by default OPL only have the smallest subset (latin1), for accentuated characters you need to copy this file to your mc?:/OPL/ folder :

    https://bitbucket.org/ifcaro/open-ps...ang_French.lng

Then in the settings, select "French" for language. You will also have the full GUI en français, which should be adequate according to your mother tongue

EDIT: No ... in fact I don't know what charset PFS is using. I first thought it was using the windows-1252 (some kind of ISO 8859-1), but after my testing (which lead to the comment above) it seems it is using the charset of the client running hdl_dump.

In my case, I run hdl_dump on linux, thus using the UTF8 charset, which is exactly what expect OPL. That's why in my results I succeeded displaying "éè...".

However this will lead to some problems, as in OPL we have no way to know what charset is used, and anyway we only support UTF8 currently. So if you are using Winhiip/hdl_dump on windows, the charset will be win-1252 and it will fail with special characters ...

I need more info on PFS .... anyone ... ?

I used OPL 0.8 to delete a game (Alien Hominid PAL if it matters) and it deleted all the entries in my ul.cfg. Not the games themselves just the contents of that file. I have no idea how to rebuild it or what information would be pertenant to this problem/bug so if there's any info I left out that would be useful please let me know.

    PS2 slimline (info in sig)
    150GB WD Passport
    ULE 4.41a & OPL 0.8
All games except one were in ul format and installed using USBUtil v2.0 Full (English)

    --EDIT--
Well I used USBUtil to recover my list and everything is good on that side. Also, OPL did delete the game I had meant for it to delete.

    1. Did the PS2/OPL freeze during the delete process ?

    2. If not, after the display refresh, did the remaining games appeared, or was the list empty ?

    3. Was the file ul.cfg on disk empty (zero bytes), or "just" full of garbage ?

To achieve the "delete game" task (for UL format) there was 2 solutions:
    • creating a temporary ul-new.cfg file, and write the list of games without the deleted" one, then renaming the ul.cfg to ul-bak.cfg, and finally rename ul-new.cfg to ul.cfg. That would be secure but we can't rename file on USB. So it would have been impossible to delete a game using this way for USB.
    • delete the ul.cfg, re create a new one using the "in memory" list. If something goes bad, you don't have a copy of the original ul.cfg ....

no, it froze after the process

When it normally would have refreshed it froze

    3. Was the file ul.cfg on disk empty (zero bytes), or "just" full of garbage ?
    It was completely empty

I have used the delete feature before with no problems but that was with .iso format games. To recover my list I used recover list of games in USBUtil (Utils/Crtl+R) and directed it do where my games are located.

We are talking about USB mode, right ?

Anyway I have no idea why it froze and crash your ul.cfg file ... may be related to what you did before, if you came back to this OPL session using the IGR feature, etc ...

Or maybe the delete happened at the same time as the automatic list refresh, concurrent IO caused the crash.

I have tested this feature for UL file format too of course ... it is not very complicated, it should work flawlessly in 100% - 1% of the cases

Yes, this was USB mode. I'm thinking it was just a freak accident. I had used an IGR previously without resetting but I always have OPL set to IGR to ULE.
