    So my kinda problem...
I just got my network adaptor for ps2 fat and wanted to kick some ass with smb mode, because it's faster than usb mode Don't have a dedicated HDD for the adapter yet... Anyway here's my problem:
I wanted to share my ps2 games off SMB, but open ps2 loader only detects games when I share usb sticks or psp memory stick through usb. How can I get it working from my Laptops Harddisk's partition E:? >_>
Thanks in advance, I know you can explain it to my idiotic head.

Also I don't know if this is a common bug, but pressing ps2 reset button(doesnt do anything(guessing it's a feature?)) and using exit button on openps2l crashes the program so I have to hold the reset button for 7 secs to turn ps2 off. Also quiting games is a problem. xD

You must make a folder inside that partition named "PS2SMB" and turn on sharing on it. You can't share the whole partition.

You can share whole partitions, you just need the "share name" to be PS2SMB and it will work.

I have successfully run OPL's SMB mode over a fairly complex network I currently use.

I have a router connected to another router, 2nd router has DHCP turned off and is on same subnet with an IP outside of the first routers DHCP range.

The PS2 will work via SMB no matter which router it is connected to.

In fact in the main OPL thread a few people have played the same game over SMB to 4, and 5 PS2s at the same time and have not had problems.
I plan to test my three FATs all at the same time in a few days to see what happens.
    V3, V7, V9 PS2s FMCB 1.8/W custom FREEMCB.CNF , ULE+ICON GUI, HDL .8b childsafe, ESR, OPL beta, Misc. 3.5, & 2.5" HDDs
    PSP 1000
    PS3 60 GB BC compatible

    I Mod Fighting Sticks!!
    My PS2 Mods
    Network Games working w/HDL .8b

    My explanation:
There is a cable between my ps2 and my laptop(windows 7).
So, when I share a folder or a partition openps2loader doesnt detect any games over smb, but whenever I share usb stick or psp it detects games on that.
No routers, no firewall, no nothing... Only cable and laptop. Or should I do this in Linux >_<
So the question remains why isn't this working from my laptops harddrive? :S
Edit: That guide is kinda useless... And game folder name is PS2SMB....

Is your cable a crossover cable? If not, there's your problem.

Well it's crossover or I wouldn't be able to share USB over the Ethernet anyway(or would I???)?
