Network issues with Open PS2 Loader. Tried all configurations I can think of.
Network issues with Open PS2 Loader. Tried all configurations I can think of. –

Hello,
I've read through the official instructions for setting up Open PS2 Loader over a Ethernet cable.
I'm trying to set this up on Windows 7 64-bit but with no success.
Here's what I have tried so far:
- Disabled both router and Windows 7 firewall just to be certain
- Disabled password protection for Windows 7 file sharing
- I have typed ipconfig to see what my PC IP address and router address is
- PS2 -
IP: 192.168.2.104 Made up a (sensible?) address based on router address
Mask: 255.255.255.0 Subnet Mask is correct
GW: 192.168.2.1 My router address is correct (ipconfig results)
- PC -
IP: 192.168.2.10 My PC address (ipconfig results)
Port: 445 Made sure this port was listening by using (netstat -a -n in command prompt)
Share: PS2SMB This is name I gave the shared drive (Drive letter is assigned to X and it is 32GB FAT32 formatted via Windows Computer Management -> Disk Management)
User: GUEST Have also tried PLAYSTATION
Password: Have tried a password after setting one up but with no luck
My hard drive has one game installed on it via iso2opl to the root (X:\name.00)
Open PS2 Loader shows the circle in the bottom right hand corner when attempting to connect and then disappears. The game name does not appear on the screen and no error message is given so I'm uncertain as to what is going on.
Any suggestions?

Well for OPL to work right you must share the all folders in PS2SMB
and you do not have to have it formatted to fat it can be anything windows translates for PS2
and OPL should have folder inside named as
DVD
CD
VMC
ART
and if most recent revision
CFG
and here is a little help for setting it up Official OPLv0.8 User Guides
but set to full share that guide is wrong on that VMC must be read wright

Is how all good gaming systems came to be

I've read that guide (again) very carefully and shared and included all those extra folders.
I've turned off UAC in Windows 7.
I've port forwarded port 445 on my router.
Any other ideas?

No should work but check firewall advance incoming and see if port 445 is blocked and if so unblock it.
but remember that is a security risk if connected to internet

I checked that port and I also disabled (temporarily) both firewalls (Windows 7 and router).
I am going to try bypassing the router and use a direct crossover cable connection. Will have to wait for the cable to arrive first though.

Yea could be your routers firewall is stop it to so crossover would help and less lag to boot

Thanks ableemuser. I have followed the instructions exactly but still no luck.
Can you tell me what settings you have for the following?

EDIT:
My HomeGroup has a password, will this affect the connection?
Crossover cable with different IP address does nothing.

I have finally got things working over a crossover cable, this issue can be considered resolved

I'm having the same problem and I'm using a crossover cable. How did you make it work?
