Using OPL 0.8 with cross-over cable between PS3 and PC:
Share name: PS2SMB
Permissions for everyone: allow read
Public sharing settings
Network discovery: ON
File and printer sharing: ON
Public folder sharing: OFF
File sharing connections: Use 128-bit encryption
Password protected sharing: OFF
LAN Adapter settings
IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
OPL Network config
- PS2 -
IP: 192.168.0.10
MASK: 255.255.255.0
GW: 192.168.0.2
- PC -
IP: 192.168.0.2
PORT: 445
SHARE NAME: PS2SMB
Network automatic startup: OFF
It just doesn't show up. I'm sharing the PS2SMB folder, which contains a DVD folder inside it, and in there I have an iso, named correctly

Try installing a game to that network share with USBUtil v2.0 Full , and see if it makes any diffrence.
I have problems with getting iso´s to work myself, but going with installing them instead , as any dual layer game will not work on a network share with fat32
What os do you use?
Under Windows 7 , it was permissions that was causing me problems , as soon as I added under "Group or User names" everybody and all the diffrent user names , name 1 by 1 that all users have full acesss and permissions , opl found my network share instantly where I had installed my own games.
Ofc I would have preferd covers and backgrounds for the games , but so far I have yet to manage to get that working with installed games, only seen guides whom explain this with iso´s , but isos isnt an option as I got several of my own games that are dual layer and wont fit on the fat 32 share
And make sure your fat32 share is a primary parition , not a logical one cause that wont work
Kind Regards

Why are you using crossover. Modern hardware is auto sensing...

Share partition MUST be fat32 under opl 0.8? And yes, I have tried the games in that installed format as well.
And as for permissions, I simply went to the folder, went to advanced sharing, said "share this folder" and gave full permissions to the group "Everyone"

Modem too far, no easily accessible Ethernet jacks, etc. It's a location thing.

NO.
So everyone who works with win7 and shares from his local-HDD must make his HDD to FAT32???

To make things clear:
Over Network, your shared folder can be on any kind of partition and any kind of file system. NO NEED of FAT32 or primary, or whatever.
DVD9 iso works fine over network NO NEED to use usbutil or to flatten the image.
You can probably use a normal RJ45 cable, no need for cross-over as nowadays the Ethernet card can detect what kind of cable is put in (Modern hardware is auto sensing... as said Bayron)
Now for your problem, you could first put Network automatic startup to ON. Also you can try to setup the login info in OPL Settings (login and password) with the one you use to log in Win7. Most probably if it's not a hardware problem it's access right on win7. I remember having the same problem on XP the first time I tried OPL, my guest account was disable, and instead of enabling it, I just used my administrator logging info in OPL which solved all problems.

Hmm...interesting, so give OPL the username and password of the account where your share folder is? I will try that.
EDIT: yeah, didn't work...and in fact, I have password protected sharing off, so it shouldn't even matter.
Also, are you guys saying a regular RJ45 cable can also act as a cross over cable? I wasn't too sure, but that seems to be the case, because my PC picks up an "unidentified network" when I connect it to my ps3.

I will be sure to do more testing with iso´s on a none fat32 network share , I guess I was just happy with what seemed to be working best (installed games on a fat 32 share, as I was taking crash courses into FMCB and OPL, I guess I was over my head for a while lol.
But anyways , let us know if you got it working.
Kind Regards
