    Hi,

*Excuse me for my bad english ><*

Don't know if it's the correct place. But I don't think it should be in "Bug repport" too because the bug appear on a old rev.

    So.. First, I've a Ps2 PAL SCPH-50004 (V9 I think). And I play by USB HDD.

I've tried today OPL 0.8 r485 and ... with all my game it's freeze on the maroon screen. The last 3 screen are Pink - Orange - Maroon in the boot sequence so I think it's the one from iopmgr.c. On the 0.7 it's works.

So what I've done before posting :
Tried to find which revision broke my setup. The r430 still work, but the r431 freeze on Maroon screen.

So what could I do to use the last revision without this maroon screen ^^.

If you need more information.. Tell me what you need.

Little Edit : I connect my USB Disk Drive with 2 usb connector on the PS2 (Don't know if the two are useful.. But the cable has 2 connector ^^'). Don't know if this info could be useful

    Alitd.

I've reinstall my FMCB to test... And now it freeze on the orange screen (just before the maroon screen in fact). But if in usbutils 2.0 I choose Patch ioprp, it doesn't freeze anymore and I can play...

So I'll use this option now, but I'd know if it's "normal" and what the effect of this patch?

    Thanks,

    Alitd

It's NOT a good sign!! If you really installed your games properly... it probably means that something inside OPL rev 430+ is broken.

If you get the pink screen, it means that OPL was patching/reseting the IOP with the game's IOPRP image, but with it's CDVDMAN and CDVDFSV modules in it.

If it freezes there, it means that the IOP reset/IOPRP image patching mechanism in OPL is broken (Or some module that was attempted to be launched failed to be launched, resulting in some failure in the IOP).

Ok but, so the problem is in my compilation or inside de code itself?
But i don't understand why a reinstall of my fcmb has change the problem(freeze on orange now instead of the maroon).

Btw I haven't retest if it's still the 430+ who broke my setup..

Before the reinstall I've used a "french version" of fmcb. And now the one in this forum (but still with the dvdelf.bin from the other version don't know if it has an effect on OPL..). I'm a little noob in this so sorry if I made a mistake ^^'...

Edit : It bug in fact with all the 3 .hack\\GU but Kingdom Heart : Chain of Memorie works fine.. Maybe the 0.8 broke some games... I'll test with some other game to see... But btw if it's works with ioprp patch it's fine for me.. I'd know what it's the effect. and if there is possibility of bad effect with this patch...

    Thanks,

    Alitd

    That's odd...

If you meant that you just reinstalled FMCB over the old installation, the installer should erase the old installation before installing FMCB.

Then it's a different problem. If only 3 games have this problem (Especially when they're from the same series and based on each other's code), then it's considered a small problem (Opposed to seeing all games not functioning on OPL, all exhibiting the same problem. ).

If it's like this, then it's probably just a small bug in OPL (Or the game conflicts/breaks with OPL).

I believe that the "patch" simply replaces the IOPRP image in the game with another IOPRP image that doesn't have certain checks... but I'm afraid that I don't really know what the IOPRP patch function in USBUtil did. I'm only aware that it was meant to fix some games for USBExtreme/USBAdvance, which caused some games to not work as many function exports in CDVDMAN were not implemented.

    BTW There's a OPL v0.8?!

If this problem still persists (Even after re-ripping those games from their DVDs) - you may want to post a compatibility report in OPL's compatibility thread.

Then that will probably get the devs' attention (I said probably, not definately, since the devs are all busy people ).

I'm surprised noone suggested this yet, but if you're still having problems... Have you tried defragging the hdd yet? For us ps3 OPL users, we have to defrag using contig/powerdefrag after every game we play. Very inconvenient, but it's a must if you're not getting the green screens (which indicates the game is working/loading). Anything from pink, blue, magenta, red, white, yellow usually means that either the game is incompatible or you need to defrag your hdd.

I'm a new user, but have been lurking for years. I'm usually on haxnetwork though if that makes you feel any better. GL HF

    P.S.: My config: PS3 fw3.15 + Swap Magic 3.6 + FAT32 external HDD + OPL 0.7, if that helps.

Just to add, all 3 .Hack//G.U. (NTSC) Games work for fine (ver 0.7 to the current rev 285), I have been playing them for the past months and have worked through all of ifcaro's revs.
