Maxtor 5A320J0
320GBMaxtor 6E040L0 Diamond Max Plus 8 40GB

PS2 SPCH-79001 SLIM-----------------SMB TEST WORK

Yes try with DMA modes first, and with more HDD, and report.
If it is really related to speed, it could be necessary to add a patch for this game in HDD mode (as sometimes even MDMA0 is still to fast).
I think you would only be wasting your time downloading other backups, as none would be better than your original. You seem to have good rips, since you can play from original disc and SMB.
I only tested the Sony HDD since it was handy at the time. Im gonna try another bigger HDD to see if i get any problems with it. This game does have some long intro/FMVs, so maybe it is speed related.

This game works perfectly fine with the Internal HDD in OPL 0.8,
without any modes, no dmas, no patches, no nothing.
I have the original retail game of the Pal version (SLES_501.96).
Ripped with Ultraiso and installed with Hdldump Helper GUI in
my Pal console without modchip and Maxtor 80GB HDD.
He must have a problem with the disc, hdd, installation,
or a problem caused by the modchip he have.
Regards.
guys, dont run the game, all backups (6 downloaded) and my LOK SOUL REAVER disc freezes in the same point afters crystal dynamics screen. I can see the select menu and the demo video, in the open ps2 loader 0.7 with mode1 enable ,but the game freezes in the loading screen to start the game.
i remove the mod chip and nothing same problem. it is rare, the 100 etc.. games from my game list work fine, is not installation, maybe a network adapter incompatibility. or should I resign,
damn i love this game Why? GOD why? you hate my soul reaver games
SPCH-50001/SPCH-10350 FAT----- HDD DONT WORK
SPCH-79001 SLIM-----------------SMB WORK
i cant believe, USB external hard disk WORK in the fat and the slim
i use the same backups and the original and work in USB and SMB

I would recommend hooking HD to PC and running WinHIIP_V1.7.6 scan and repair see if problem on HD and Fix and Save if you find any sounds like HD problem to me.

Is how all good gaming systems came to beAnd of course don't try the DMA mode, continue to make tests that are failing, it is much better ...
I still think its a 'rip issue', not the HDD as an issue. He doesnt seem to want to try any HDD testing and report back on them. Honesty tends to reveal the truth.........
No DMA reports, asked by izdubar or try installing direct from PS2 CD/DVD via HDL with the "original" disc and see if that works..... of course you need the original for that.
If he has the original and it works....no downloaded backup copy is going to be "better" than that. If his original works, the rip from the 'original' works in SMB and USB, then it will work from HDD too, at LEAST 1 of those HDDs he tried should have worked, its hard to believe all of them failed.
But hey, thats just my experience talking....what do i know.
Edit:
I did a little investigating, all of the "downloads" i found, have the wrong filesize......might be a clue.
2.97GB - Wrong size
3,039 Mb - Wrong size
4419 Mb - Wrong size
I think you get the idea here.....
@ ruffonetas
Just out of "curiosity", what is the exact filesize of the Original disc as shown in My Computer?![]()
