Issues loading cheats through OPL
Issues loading cheats through OPL –
First of all, hello,
I've been using Open PS2 Loader for two weeks now on my PS2 and her veeeery old lens, only tested it with 5 different games but it works well for now. The main problem i'm going through is how to use cheats ingame.
Researching a little bit through the forums, I saw that I needed to get through another program, like Codebreaker or the SM, then get back to the OPL elf and launch the game.
For Codebreaker, it never really worked. I suspect it to be because of my PS2 though which could be too recent, but all I got was a black screen at launch of CB, following all the steps to normally make it work.
For SM, it got better. The .elf version of 3.8 works perfectly, the cheat interface is very simple. So now, I got some codes in it, used special boot, and it got me directly to the FMCB interface, as if I just restarted my PS2. Not really a problem actually, since I just used the OPL shortcut at startup and launched the game like always.
The codes weren't working. I searched online, and understood that I was using the wrong output in maxconvert, and that it needed to be of the AR2v1 / GS2v1 format at the end, and ARMAX in the beginning. So I just did it, and put a lot of codes to make sure at least one of them would work. Problem is : Now the special boot won't work anymore. It just goes to a black screen and then nothing, no ULE, no FMCB, no OPL.
I don't think I have changed anything inside my MC during this time, my SWAPMAGIC-renamed elf of ULE is still in its folder, everything is in place. I wonder if the cheats could have blocked the whole thing, but that would be pretty crazy.
Basically, my .elf of Swap Magic won't get me to another program after special boot.
Any answer that could guide me is welcome.
For the details, I have a SCPH-77004 lensless-slim PS2, and the game I'm trying to get cheats in is a NTSC version of Persona 4 which has always worked fine. I find my cheats at Codejunkies.
I have a SCPH-77004 slim PS2, with Modbo chip, and Codebreaker 9.2 cracked (it has anti-chip protection removed) works if i dont have anything in usb ports (I insert my USB stick with games for OPL after it returns me to FreeMCBoot menu).
I patched it to for use with OPL after reading this: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f19/code...oad-hdl-57901/ (Codebreaker patched to load HDL)
Anyway, this problem happend to me too using codebreaker: after inserting some codes it stoped getting me to FreeMC boot menu.
I solved the problem adding another code so that codebreaker will resave the codes to memory card. (i think the save from memory card got corupted or someting).
