My problem is that iso files in the dvd subfolder of my usbhdd are not listed when accessing them through my network. These same files run just fine if i connect my hdd via the ps2's usb.
I believe i have them correctly named:
    Ex "SLUS_207.63.Beyond Good And Evil.iso"
Also any games i have installed using USButil v2 work fine both in usb and network mode, its just the games in the dvd subfolder. Any suggestions?

Are you sure the games in ISO format are correctly named with the GameID first, then the game's name and the extension in small letters?

    Example:
    SCUS_973.28.Gran Turismo 4.iso

For some PC's OS, it is a MUST the extension is in small letters, so i'd check them just to be sure.

If they work fine as ISO in that folder from USB Games list, then they should work just as well from the Network Share, but check to make sure the permissions of the 'parent' are also for those subfolders.

Its also a possibility you just need to re-start OPL, as i've been testing a lot of my games on a USB HDD from Network and every once in a while, they do not display and i have to restart the console.
    PS2 Consoles:
    SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
    SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
    SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

The names are definitely in the correct format.

I double checked that all the games file extensions were entirely lowercase.

The sub folders seem to have the same permissions as the drive root, as i can edit files from other computers in my network and opl can read the cover art in the ART subfolder. ( when sharing in windows vista i can't find any settings applying to subfolders of the folder i am setting to share).

I have rebooted my ps2 many times while trying to solve this problem.
The problem persists but thanks for the suggestions so far.

I have a similar if not the same problem where I have one CD .iso and one DVD .iso as a test in the correct \CD and \DVD directories which work fine from USB but not fine from SMB. However, the same NAS (this is a SnakeOS NAS 1.20) serves the ul_install games great over SMB. I worry about the processing of the directory separator character "\" which maybe is processed as "\\" or "/". NAS's can vary in this aspect. That would explain why USB would work (uses different processing of directory separator) and SMB would not on my NAS. It could be tested if a test OPL version was made which looked for games in the root directory of the SMB share only (maybe a DVD-only test version). Just a theory.

Check the extension, it must be ".iso" all in lowercase.
Check the folder name, it must be "DVD" all in uppercase.
Check the rights on each game file
Check the rights on the DVD folder

(and really check it, as windows/FAT32 is sometimes tricky and show things in lowercase when IT IS NOT)

Concerning the path, it *should* be ok, as changes has been made to satisfy the strict SMB naming scheme, as before it was conflicting with some meticulous NAS.

Looking into the possibility about network problems.

    Are you connecting via router?
    Are you connecting directly pc-->ps2?
Are you using the right type of network cable? (crossed or straight)
    PS2 Slim SCPH-77004 with FMCB 1.8
    (Modded with Matrix Infinity)
    Running OPL 0.8
SMB w/ crossed cable in Windows XP with a computer dedicated to only PS2-loading.
    HDD: Samsung G3 1TB
TOTALLY LAG FREE - BOTH IN-GAME AND FMV.

Thanks for the help. I'm leaning towards permission problems, and will go through and recheck tonight. Last night had little access to the PS2 but did find and compile the latest toolchain and then the latest beta OPL in case I want to do some experimenting.

Check ur firewall and change the permission on ethernet either a public or private. If public change it to private(trusted). Or simply turn off ur firewall.
