I'm not really sure, but I doubt that this is supported. The elf application launcher probably only supports USB and MC.
uLE (== uLaunchELF) does not at present support any SMB file transfer at all.Quote:
or ulaunch elf?
It does have an early version of a test routine for SMB login, based on a module from OPL, but that is all it has so far. Real network transfers in uLE still have to use the HOST protocol, with some HOST client running at the PC end of the connection. I myself mostly prefer using PS2ClientLoader as GUI for ps2client.exe, but RadHostClient is also a working alternative.
Then I think something is wrong either with your configuration of it or possibly with your choice of movie files.Quote:

Be aware that SMS supports a limited set of AVI and MPG formats, with very marginal support for DVD-Video VOB files (pure movie VOBs may work, but menu VOBs crash).
Other formats such as WMV or MP4 etc are not supported at all, and neither are AVI files with various 'exotic' codec usage.
For the supported formats SMS has worked very well for me, having used its SMB networking for all my media viewing for several years now, switching only recently to a commercial stream player (mainly for the extended file format support).

Oh Thnx Dlanor your always here to help.so could i have a newbs guide to running said ps2client to allow the viewing and launching of elf files please? and also as for smb i put it in the root of my share drive and pc says connected .opl works over smb but this app is not please tell me what options you are using in order for this to work.thnx in advance.(p.s by using the old mp4 mentioned in the ulaunch elf error this movie file plays but lags.so would like to get it to work via smb.thnx so much dlanor-king of ps2 biz)
You really must make some small effort yourself too.
First and foremost you should download "PS2ClientLoader" version 1.31, and this probably comes with a suitable "ps2client.exe" too. If not you can download one from the uLaunchELF subforum, which may be a better idea anyway, as I compiled those especially to ensure compatibility to the host: device driver of uLE.
With these in the same folder you can then try using the PS2ClientLoader GUI, and the first time you do this you will need to configure it, before you can use it. The file shares defined can also be edited by hand, simply by editing the file "elflist.txt" stored in the same folder too (created/updated when shares are added). I recommend maintaining that file through use of a normal text editor rather than using the GUI, as the GUI editor for it is a little bugged.
Didn't you read what I said in my last post on this. It is NOT supposed to work.Quote:

The 'Apps' menu relates only to application elfs stored on USB or MC. And to date the ONLY way to maintain the 'Apps' listing is by hand editing the file "mc0:/OPL/conf_apps.cfg" in a normal text editor.
Here is an example of what I use in that file on one of my consoles:
Code:CodeBreaker v10=mc1:/BOOT/CBv10 BOOT noCdStop.ELF
GSM=mc0:/BOOT/GSM.ELF
Simple Media System=mc0:/BOOT/SMS.ELF
uLaunchELF=mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
I cannot decode these sentences at all:Quote:

Especially the part saying "old mp4 mentioned in the ulaunch elf error", which makes absolutely no sense to me. I simply don't understand what you want to say.
As for using ANY ".mp4" files with SMS, that has to be a lost cause since the program officially does NOT support such files at all. It is possible and even probable that Eugene has been working on adding such support, but it is definitely not complete enough to be regarded as working. Hence ALL complaints about non-working ".mp4" files must simply be ignored. The program is not intended to handle such files, so there is nothing more to say about it.
If you want to watch movies or clips in unsupported formats using SMS, then you will simply have to do what I've been doing for several years now, which is to use a good conversion program to convert those movies/clips into normal XviD AVI format instead.
For such purposes I strongly recommend the combination of Virtualdub (for the AVI creation) and AviSynth (for handling multiple input formats), though this method may be a little too complex for a novice. But there are also many 'one click' conversion programs available for those who prefer ease of user rather than total control.

no i meant smb app as in the smb for sms media player app fails to work.
thanks for your guide :)
and old mp4 player as in the mp4 player i used with the .vmc storage in the old vmc-6 error topic reads this movie file but lags and sms dosnet see anything over smb.
thnx
OPL beta revision can launch ELF from every devices (ETH/USB/HDD) and MC, see here:

Oh, I wasn't sure that was fully implemented yet.
But given the last post by the OP, that is not really his problem.
Apparently he has some problem using SMB with SMS, though it remains unclear why.
Of course, if he did launch SMS through a virtual disc launched by OPL over SMB, that would certainly explain why SMS can't also use SMB at that time.

no i think i no y it wont work. its because i have to haveps2clientGUI Setup and running when i did not correct? i havent tested ps2 client yet.
It may very well mess things up for the SMB traffic of SMS, so it is best to terminate anything on the PC side related to ps2client or other HOST clients, before you even start up SMS in SMB mode.
Of course, one LAN protocol should really remain usable in parallel to another, but these PS2 related clients and servers are not all that consistently implemented, so it is best to only have one such protocol active at a time, at each end. For one thing, the HOST client GUI's have a strong tendency to 'eat' all ping replies from the PS2, and this could extend to other packets too, depending on how it was coded, and that could cause SMB handshaking to lock up.
I always use SMB with SMS, on three different model consoles, so I'm sure it can be done for your console as well. The real question here is if it may be the PC OS that is messing things up for you. So what do you use ?
I know from experience that the SMB of SMS works fine with both WinXP and Win2K, but I'm not so sure about WinVista and Win7. I think they may both need some special settings to work well with legacy connections (due to new default SMB port etc).
