Help with opl2iso.exe –
11-16-2011,10:33 PM
Hi Guys,
Sorry for being a total noob, can someone enlighten me about opl2iso
i have a ps2 slim spch 90000 and a usb hdd filled with ul formated games, lately im trying to convert back to iso all of my games installed to my usb hdd fat32 but can someone enlighten me if opl2iso can convert 4gb or larger ul formated games?
ive successfully converted less than 4gb games but failed always for the 4GB files or larger, it prompt me that cannot write destination file (disk space is full) or something like that. is it because the limitation of fat32 for 4gb filess or am i doing something wrong with opl2iso?
best regards,

is giving this error because you are trying to convert it into a fat32 system, and does not accept files over 4G.
you should put them on your PC first (NTFS partition), then convert them.
but be aware, they can not stay in your USB hard drive, ou seja, you can not play them by USB, only by the network.
there are also other programs that do this as usbUtil

Can i ask you something??
Why you want to reconvert your games to .iso???
1. OPL and PS2ESDL are compatible for .ul games.... And believe me, you donīt need anymore....
2. If you play with USB-HDD then you must let the games over 4,3GB in .ul -format (fat32 limitation)....
EDIT:
And how mrcordas say....
Use USBUtil 2.0 ~ 2.1 for converting / reconverting

Why you want to reconvert your games to .iso???
its simple, i want to explore and at the first place the developer put the feature to be used and moreover it feels good whenever i accomplish something about homebrew (same thing goes to my psp). and last is i want to check the compatibility.
each of us has that eagerness to learn. thats all (dude i mean no harm)
best regards

Ok now i understand you....
The only way for you to play the games over 4 GB in .iso, is with SMB (over LAN). So you can convert your .iso to your PC if it has NTFS......
Then you discover that the loading-times are faster than with USB.....

yes i knew from the very beginning the SMB loads faster than usb hdd but the sad thing is i dont have a computer in our house i only use this computer in our office, to do all the things that needed a computer.
all i want to do is to arrange all my games all less than 4gb games will be in iso format while the greater ones will be either in ul. format or ps2esdl format, thats it

I'm having the same issue, to a degree. I've been looking for a work-around to the 4gb limit placed on the fat32 formating, to no end. I have successfully installed a game on my USB thumb drive, and ran it with OpenPS2Loader, but the installed games never show up. Me being relatively new to the modding scene, I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong. I tried to convert it back to .iso on the flash drive, but I was never successful. I always either get an "access denied" error, or an "Unable to open destination file 'gamecode_gamename'" Now, I'm curious, is it foolish of me to try and put large games on there? Are there other methods? I'm using a fat Ps2 running Free McBoot 1.8 and an SCPH-35001 BIOS. I don't have a network adapter, either. Any information would be helpful on how to run the installed games on my ps2, or any way to get the large games on my flash drive, and still be usable in OPL. Thank you in advanced!

I would highly recommend a network adapter you can use OPL to it fullest you would have SMB at the min and if you put a Hard Drive in dock you get not lag and more compatibility but back on subject
This program is compatible with OPL and breaks DVD in 1G size so you can put over 4g games on HD or stick

BTW this must be on root of HD or stick for OPL to read it

So the installed games need to be on the root directory? So for me, just F:\ instead of F:\DVD? I use Iso2Opl to install to that directory, and OPL never picks up the game, so it forces me to believe I'm doing something wrong. And as for splitting up the iso, wouldn't that be the same as using iso2opl?

Yep root like you stated and it works the same way as iso2opl
but if you are having problems with that program it may work in its place
but their is no workaround for the 4g limit so you will have to chose one or the other for usb games it is fat32 limit that causes that
