Help with HDP V1.081 –
11-25-2008,07:06 AM
Hey there i have seen in this forum that people have succesfully made esr patched games work with a VMC by using ==> ESR-MC to load BOOT.ELF (uLaunchELF) => Load HD_GUI.ELF => MC TOOLS => MC EMULATOR....
i do this and i get a loading screen and ESR colours: RED (very fast) => Blue (very fast) => Magenta (very fast) => Black Screen (2-3 seconds) => CYAN (Freezes at this point)
So RED > BLUE > MAGENTA > BLACK (Game Loading 3-4 Secs) > (then hangs on) CYAN
ffgriever could you please tell me what these colours mean??
Thanks in advance if anyone can help!!!

Why do you assume that ?
When you ask for help with a specific problem, then you can only expect replies from people with solutions for that specific problem.
And if that specific problem has no solutions you probably won't get any replies.
It's that simple.
The only ones that I am aware of as having succeeded to use VMC with ESR are those who have integrated the VMC emulator with the game files of a game ISO before patching it for ESR and burning it to disc. This is similar to how some people have patched ISOs for using VMC with HDLoader. (Very similar, as you'd also have to use the 'dvdv direct off' variant, which is the ESR equivalent of HDL's mode 3.) Personally I never bothered with either, partly because it's not worth the effort for any game, and partly because it is damned difficult to do for many of the games I like. (Square always loved hidden directories and LBA tables etc...)
Since this usage is different from the usage you asked for help with, it made no sense to post about it. And that is why you got no replies before this one.
In any case, it is a lot easier to just back up gamesaves with uLE's psuPaste whenever an MC begins to get crowded, so that's the only solution I can recommend.

Thanks dlanor, so i have to reburn my games to make them with a VMC... hmm i'll give it a try when i burn my next backup, but i think i should just stick to the original games with HDP.
I have a USB HDD connected up to my PS2 now so im more interested in getting that to work on my fat V9 50002, i cant find a solution because USBAdvance detects the CDVD tray as open, (Laser was blown so i completely removed the Drive), do you know a way around this dlanor?
So i can get USB Advance to work with it knowing the CDVD tray is open,
Any help is much appreciated..
Thanks

Sorry, but I don't.

I don't even know if that is the full story. The CDVD drive must contain some 'real' electronics apart from the tray sensor, so there may be additional signals the console is waiting for, and not just an open (because absent) sensor.
But most likely it would be possible to patch the program somehow, if someone made a sufficiently deep analysis of a disassembly to find the critical parts. (And no, I'm not volunteering for that work.
)
