PS2Client has two main purposes.

But this kind of remote debugging usually fails for programs that themselves include networking abilities, as their network needs can conflict with the needs of PS2Link.
2: PS2Client can also serve as a PC-side client for other PS2 programs that use the HOST protocol for networked file sharing, as can be used both by the SMS media player and by the uLaunchELF FileManager. But for that purpose you are best served by a special version of PS2Client, available in the subforum of uLaunchELF. There are also various GUIs availablle to simplify such use of PS2Client, and one GUI (RadHostClient) that includes its own low-level HOST routines so that PS2Client as such is not even needed. My favourite GUI for such use is named "PS2ClientLoader".
If you feel no need for such things, then you have no reason to download any version of PS2Client. For my own needs I use it mainly for uLE file transfers when moving stuff between a PC and a PS2.
