    Hi.

I'm having a problem connecting to the built-in HDL server. I'm generally pretty good at networking and I actually had a similar setup going years ago before I broke my first PS2.

    Anyway

My PS2's settings are like this
    IP 192.168.1.10
    Mask 255.255.255.0
    Gateway 192.168.1.1

I can ping it fine from my PC when HDL server is running from the settings screen. However, when I start up HDL dumb it says "Not an APA partition."

This is weird because I just like 5 minutes ago formatted the disk with HDLoader retail disc. It's a boring 120gb Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9. The format finished and it showed 112 gigs free, as expected.

I'm not sure what the problem is and I don't remember how to do this. Any help?

    more info would help
Like what are you using to connect to ps2 for now it only supports .86

Did you tell HDL dumb the right ip that would be 192.168.1.10
did you start server first and wait for it to say it is working before trying to connect

    V10 SCPH-50001 with Network adapter SCPH-10281 500 G HD
    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred
Is how all good gaming systems came to be

Do you mean to say that connecting to PS2 with HDL Dumb only supports x86? I don't know what .86 is.

Yeah I configured HDL dumb to use the right IP address.
I started the server and waited until it said "Press O to abort" or whatever it says.

EDIT: Just to check, I created a Windows XP Pro 32-bit virtual machine and I still get that "not an APA partition" when I try to connect to it with HDL Dumb

Have you tried reformatting the disk with HDL Dump itself? Type "hdldump <ip address> initialize" at the command line.

He meant that the OPL HDL Dump server is compatible with only HDL Dump/dumb v0.86. I can guarantee you that it works on x64 as well, as my PC is running Windows 7 x64. However, I've never set up the OPL HDL Dump server from within OPL itself... but used a modified version of the OPL HDL Dump server in my other projects.

Have you tried using my prototype HDL Dump server v0.93? It's compliant with the protocol used by HDL Dump/Dumb v0.90, and gives approximately 5MB/s when installing games.

Sorry, but I'm having trouble finding your 0.93 file on your homepage, can you post it please?

In any case, when I run the HDL server .86 and then try to initialize the disk from the command line, I get a black console box pop up then instantly disappear so I can't even read what it said. I can still ping the PS2, so it should be connectable. Using HDL_Dumb trying to connect it tells me "Bad APA Partition" which I guess is progress, I was using .83 before which is what is hosted here in the downloads section.

I feel like I'm missing out on something fairly basic here. It's been ~5-6? years since i messed with this stuff so forgive me if I come across as a noob.

Try running the command prompt as an administrator first (Right-click on the command prompt option in your start menu and select the "Run as administrator" option), before invoking HDL Dump from there.

Nah, it's fine. Things like this happen from time to time.

The strange thing is that formatting your HDD with the HDLoader disc should have already initialized the drive with a valid APA layout... which is weird since HDL Dump seems to have some problem seeing that.

Alright, so I was taking a close look at the connector on my network adapters and i found that both of them have at least one bent/broken pin. The PS2-side socket seems to be fine though, so that's a relief. I might bump this topic in a week when I get my new network adapter.

Ok so a few things have happened.

First, I got a new network adapter and I'm now able to properly connect to hdld server 0.9.0 with HDL Dumb 0.9.0 and it reads the drive with no error. (Or, I was able to.)

Then, I tried to initialize the disk from the command prompt with hdl_dump. It didn't seem to do anything, but when I reconnected with hdl dumb, it said my drive was like 640 gigs (it's only 120). I restarted the PS2 and now when I try to start up hdld server it just hangs looking like this:

    hdld_svr-0.9.0
    *******

and the hard drive light stays on solid. Something ****ed up and the disk is corrupt, I'm thinking. That's not all terrible because I have a USB-IDE adapter that should arrive on the 13th, so I should be able to fix it.

Once that gets fixed, I should be able to use SP193's prototype HDL Dump server right? Just load the .elf and connect with HDL Dumb 0.9.0?

Yea but I would use HDL DUMP HELPER GUI v2.3 because the hdl_dumx-0.9.0 has a bug for dual layer games and will not let you copy games from PS2 to PC either
HDL DUMP HELPER GUI v2.3 can run both .8.6 and .9.0 and the speed you get with SP193's prototype HDL Dump server is crazy fast compaired to any other and initializes the HD and network itself Just use uLE nav to it run elf wait for it to start HD and network connect and install

BTW you could format your HD with uLE use HDManger

I'm trying to use the new HDL DUMB HELPER to connect with the new SP193's SMAP driver running on my PS2 (the (IOP) PKTDRV stack but it just can't connect.
I tought I was forgetting something, but I've tried capturing the packets of the network card and I could see some SYN packets going to the PS2, but no response.
When I did the same thing using the standard hdl_dump server on PS2, it got connected sucessfully.

Is this new SMAP driver only compatible with crossover connection? I have a DI 524 router that connects all the devices (PS2, PC, notebook, cellphone, etc...)

You guys're doing a really nice work!
