OPL 0.7 did not recognize my 1.5 TB drive. I solved this problem by creating a partition less then 1 TB (Around 750 GB). I do not know if this has changed in OPL 0.8.
I use a WD 1TB USB HDD, formatted FAT32 and it works just fine, no partitioning done to it.:)
I use it for both USB games and network games (connected to the PC's USB ports)
So OPL doesn't have a 200 GB limit? I heard some of the older loaders do.
I'm asking about the internal drive. I just bought a 40 GB one for a decent price, after I tested a 4 GB.
Internally you can use up to 2 terabyte with PFS formatted drive (and HDL/HDA). But that would require having an adaptor that will connect an S-ATA drive with the IDE (P-ATA) interface within the PS2. So you can use your 40GB drive without a problem as long as it is a healthy drive. I have internally a 160 GB Samsung drive and no problems using OPL (OPL seems to be/is faster than HDL/HDA). On some games i got the impressions that they are almost no loading times (especially Phantasy Star Universe and PSU Ambition of the Illuminus).
as per my sig, i have a 500 Gb Hitachi in my PS2. there were larger HDD's in IDE but they would have to be second hand now.... i got my Hitachi new.....
the other thing about a larger HDD is the boot time.. more drive and games to read at startup....
