Hello again. Now that i finally have OPL up and running some games I notice that some of the cutscenes play terribly while the gameplay itself plays flawlessly. Being the perfectionist that I am, I just cannot play a game with laggy cutscenes. I noticed that you can tinker around in the game configuration settings and select different modes for each game. I was wondering if someone could link me to an article or guide explaining what each mode does when it its initiated.

    Thanks!

EDIT: Bah, made a typo in the title.

EDIT2: I am loading the games via ps2 > router > computer (SMB)

How are you loading your games?
If you are loading your games from HDD, then those "modes" you are looking for are the compatibility options (E.g. slow down HDD access).

If you are loading your games off a USB device, then there's nothing much that can be done as the USB 1.1 ports of the PS2 are slower than the CD/DVD drive.

In that case, you could try PS2ESDL which is tuned for the use of USB devices (Hence offering better performance and game compatibility when using USB devices): http://psx-scene.com/forums/f19/play...ps2esdl-63375/

EDIT: Compatibility mode list for OPL: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f150/com...2loader-63344/ (Compatibility Modes in OpenPS2Loader)
    Unmodified SCPH-77006 with SM 3.6

As of the newer (not most-current) revisions, I never experienced stutters in FMV in any game. Maybe I try Final Fantasy XII (12) again, but I'm not sure where my disc is.

    1. Make sure your NAS/PC is serving the data-stream fast enough.
    2. Make sure your router isn't blocking anything or slowing it down.

Well, I have port 445 opened on 192.168.15.5 which is my ps2's ip address, should i open that for my computers ip instead?

Yeah the FMV stuttering is really annoying, at first I thought running games via SMB would have no lag at all but many games I tried like Final Fantasy X-2, Kingdom Heart, Xenosaga 1&2 and Super Robot Wars series lag a lot in FMV while gameplay runs smoothly. I hope OPLv0.9 can fix this FMV stuttering issue so that I can enjoy playing my games over SMB without lagging.

...and that is, how it is dude... (Maybe not that good on a PS3...)

but many games I tried like Final Fantasy X-2, Kingdom Heart, Xenosaga 1&2 and Super Robot Wars series lag a lot in FMV while gameplay runs smoothly.
There must be a serious bug in your setup, because even my old file-server (~750MHz Pentium III/3, 384MB RAM) can decompress the images on-the-fly fast enough and serves the data fast enough.

I even play Kingdom Hearts 2 currently and there are no stutters at all.
I tried FFX2 on an older OPL-Version which already supported SMB (in between FFX2 even was incompatible to OPL) and even there the stuttering was only marginal.
...and because you are lucky, I even have Xenosaga laying around somewhere...

I hope OPLv0.9 can fix this FMV stuttering issue so that I can enjoy playing my games over SMB without lagging.
I hope you find the bug/error in your network, because this is not normal...

I can confirm both Final Fantasy X-2and Kingdom Heart dont have any 'lagging' when run from SMB. Perhaps your Network is too busy at the time you tried playing those games, as network traffic from your PC will have an effect on performance of games played from SMB.
    PS2 Consoles:
    SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
    SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
    SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

I tried all of my Kindom Hearts as well and no lag.

Fire up OPL, and try some network tests, try a trace route from your pc to your ps2, and try a ping (not sure if ping works or not to a playstation).

I can ping my ps2 just fine even though it doesnt show up in my router DHCP client list, like Saturnize I connect my ps2 > router > computer using a standard LAN cable, the cable is quite long and old though maybe that's the problem? If I connect the ps2 directly to the computer will it be faster and have no lag at all ? But I dont have the crossover cable to try that so... I'll have to stick with my router.
