getting vmc to work
well opl fails creating a vmc for me. that wouldnt be a big problem, but champions of norrath cant save on my far-over-8mb-memorycard, maybe my card is a bit broken, i dont know.
anyway, i thought a vmc could solve that problem. but now i cant find any help on creating a vmc, when i dont have the option to directly connect the ps2 hdd to my laptop. lan or freemcboot is fine. i hope you can help me.
ive read something about creating an partition first. if that is the only option, how do i partition it?
Official OPLv0.8 User Guides - VMC
If your using an internal HDD and want to create a VMC on it, then yes you need to have a Partition named OPL, you can create the partition if it doesnt exist, by using uLaunchELF [FileBrowser > MISC > HddManager]
I tried vmc but I also could not get to work.
I tried to create it with OPL but it gave me this error
"failed to format vmc"
When used a pre-configured vmc that I copied it to my internal HDD using ulaunchelf, OPL recognize it but when I tried to run the game (Onimusha 4 DOD, as I read that it worked for other users with vmc) it gave me this error:
"error with vmc, continue with physical mc"
I did everything like creating the partition and the vmc folder on my HDD
but I could not get to work.
Well, i cant say i know all about VMC, because i dont....but perhaps its just the game not compatible with OPL's VMC, as not all games are going to work.
If you created a VMC for that game using a different method to create the VMC, perhaps it is that VMC that is causing the problem, i dont know.
Have you been able to create a VMC thru OPL for any games?
I tried creating vmc through OPL but it always stuck at 99% while creating it and gave me this message: "failed to format vmc"
and it is for all games.
I've had issues with OPL either not creating/messing up when creating VMC when my USB HDD is too full. Try using one of the attached VMCs. I recommend taking the 8mb one and renaming it however you want then moving it to the proper place. Hope this helps.
