Getting Started with OPL via HDD
Getting Started with OPL via HDD –
12-06-2010,04:48 AM
Hey guys, just found out about OPL.
I don't have my PS2 around right now but i was wondering on how it all works.
I have HDL and ULe,
So do i just run the .elf file and it'll preface me with a menu to access my HDD ?
Sorry if this already came up, i tried searching for it with little luck. I've already read the Official OPLv.7 User guide for HDD and just wanted to make sure.
And
What about PAL games on an American HDTV,
Will OPL let me play it automatically because on HDL, my tv just says "Mode Not Supported" or do i need to patch it with a PAL2NTSC patcher ?
Thank you guys in advance !

Yep, so long as you set the HDD to automatically run, you will always have the list ready to use on each start up. In the Settings part, set both Use Hard Drive: and Autostart Hard Drive: to ON.

I wouldnt recommend any knid of patching be done to your games for use in OPL. It is designed to run the games without any type of editing to them, some editing/patching might make them uncompatible.
There is an app you might find useful, GSM

You mean 'Age of Empires 2', right? NTSC-J version (since there is no NTSC-U release)?
I don't think it switches back from PAL to NTSC.
AFAIK that only happens if the game features a video mode selector (such as the 50/60Hz selector in many PAL releases) or using a progressive scan option in the game menu, which 'overwrites' the video mode enforced by GSM.
So I suppose AoE2 doesn't start at all and therefore you don't see anything after the debug colors...

I finally got around to running OPL v.8,
But how do i enable alphabetical order on my HDD?
v7 was suppose to have implemented it.

In the Main Settings screen > Display Settings
Set automatic sorting to ON
Heres a link to the User Guides, you can find info on all options and settings for OPL.
