    So if we downsample the fmv maybe the speed is better (less stutered) ?
    we can downsampling with pss downsampler.

    Yes, with a lower-quality video there will be less data to be transferred, and hence smoother playback.

    But the problem with downsampling the video is that some of us don't want to see videos of lower quality, and not all games can have their videos re-encoded.

    The most common formats used by Playstation 2 games seem to be the Sony PSS format, and some of Criware's codecs.
    Unmodified SCPH-77006 with SM 3.6
    SCPH-39006 with M-chip modchip, SCPH-10281 NA and refurb Seagate 80GB HDD
    SCPH-10000 v1.00 with SCPH-10190 PCMCIA NA and SCPH-20400 HDD unit
    PS2ESDL v0.823B

    I imagine such a thing would probably be a big pain to code. But maybe a server-side program could be written to on-the-fly transcode this stuff to a smaller format? But then I guess all the work that would go into that, you could just spend the time transcoding manually.

    Not in the fly, but downsample the fmv before using in opl.
    After the iso is patched then rip it to USB HD
