    i've tried wwe here comes the pain a few days ago via smb and there was these annoying falling obliquely small black bars is the network card inside the ps2 causing this being near the video output?

    Try playing another game through SMB, if it happens on all SMB games that you know are fine then it could be quite likely. Or the ps2 may just be on its last legs.

    Also try re-ripping the game, or playing a copy from an external HDD

    If you're using a direct connection (i.e. no router) try replacing the Ethernet cable. If a router is involved, you might have to play a little cable switcheroo -- put a brand new cable from the PS2 to router. If it still happens, hook the old cable back to the PS2 and put the new LAN cable between the SMB share and router. If the glitches still happen, put another brand new cable from router to PS2 ... LAN cables can become flaky, especially if you're tucking them under throw rugs to avoid tripping over 'em instead of around the base boards.
