    Hi,

I've got an old 10Mbps ethernet hub hooked up to my PS2 (SCPH-77003), NAS and PC. (I want to use Wireshark to capture network traffic between PS2 and NAS to find the cause of the problem I mentioned in this thread (OPL 0.8 network game name corruption).)

But Open PS2 Loader 0.9 doesn't work when the PS2 is connected to the hub. It can't connect to the NAS and gives an error message after a while. The hub link/act LED for the port which the PS2 is connected to flashes continuously (and the "partition" LED is lit).

The hub itself works fine; I can connect to the NAS using my PC though the hub.

Has anyone successfully used OPL on a 10Mbps network? I'm wondering whether the ethernet driver in OPL only works at 100Mbps, and fails to fall back to 10Mbps when necessary. I guess OPL uses the ethernet driver from PS2SDK, so maybe other PS2 programs also fail with 10Mbps networks?

I remember seeing that it forces 100Mbs and some were on this forum someone had a fix in source that worked for them
but can not find it like needle in haystack

Ah right, well if you ever find that fix please let me know.

In the mean time, I was able to work around the problem by also using a 10/100 switch connected between the PS2 and hub, like this:
    Code:
                                 ,------ NAS
                                /
                               /
    PS2 ------ switch ------ hub
                               \
                                \
                                 `------ PC
With that setup I was able to capture the network traffic.

It turns out you can just not define FORCE_100M_FD when building Open PS2 Loader, so I did that. But OPL's 10Mbps support must be broken somehow, since I got incredibly poor performance with my PS2 and NAS connected via a 10Mbps hub. While the list of shares and games appeared pretty quickly, actually loading a game took 15 minutes or so. That's not due to the 10Mbps network speed itself, which was fine using the original OPL build and connecting PS2 --- switch --- hub --- NAS.

thank god i found this post. i been confused and baffled why i cant get open ps2 loader and nas working, then i realised it might be to do with my 10mbit hub, which am using just to extend my cable upstairs... thanks dude.

opl should specify the requirement of 100mbit network to work properly
