The dark pleasures of 'BDSMB'.
The dark pleasures of 'BDSMB'. –

Now, it is most regrettable that my first post has to be one where I ask for help, but it cannot be helped, so I better just cut to the chase.
Firstly, I have have the following:
-a CECHC -pal, backwards compatible- PS3
-a router
-windows xp installed on the computer that holds the game files
-grief, anguish and hatred
Just a brief while ago, I configured my console -running Open PS2 Loader- to work using SMB, and successfully, if I may add, however successfully here does not denote that it works blazing fast. In fact, it is rather slow. Not long ago, I have loaded Digital Devil Saga Avatar Tuner, only to realise that loading speeds are astonishingly slow. Now, out of curiosity, I went and tested my wireless throughput, and in my own room, the transfer rate was between 500 and 1000 kb/s when transferring a video file of around 500 megs through PS3 Media Server. When I chose to inspect the transfer speeds whilst running the aforesaid game, I was met with a laughable 300 kb/s average during periods when the wireless light on my PS3 was flickering.
Now, I am well aware I have not provided a lot of data, it is all I have. I have set everything I could to 802.11g and disabled all the non-essential protocols and functions and whatnot, yet I detected no improvement. Now, it was fairly clear that the transfer of the video file was much faster, and quite honestly, while it is nothing impressive, I would be happy if I could play with the same speed.
I am not asking for the perfect solution, given how uncertain the situation is and how many variables are present and how I am not able to gather all the crucial information, let alone offer it to you. I merely wish to know what the possible issues may be and what I may do to recognise and perhaps address them.
Thank you in advance.
