Contra Shattered Soldier... white screen
Contra Shattered Soldier... white screen –

hello...
I use usbutil 2.0 to install my games. power defragger to defrag them. i have roughly 35 games succesfully installed and working which i play with either usbadvance, or OPL 0.6, or OPL 0.7
i have an original copy of Contra Shattered Soldier (SLUS 203-06). and i keep getting the white screen.
when i try to install straight from the cd the first 3 or 4 percent takes like 10 minutes. then begins to pick up to usuall speed... it does this every time.
then i of course tried usimg IMGBURN to make a .BIN image which i tried both burning to a cd and mounting in daemon tools just to see if either of those methods would work... the daemon tools method does not have the weird slow-starting installation phenomina but still white screen all the same. openps2loader=white screen and usbadvance=white screen with diagonal stripes.
WD elements 640 gb usb HD. with many succesful installs.
SCPH 30001-R
any ideas?

Its possibly your WD Elements HDD as the cause, due to an incompatibility.
I first had the same issue with this game and found it was an incompatible USB HDD, so after tested several other USB HDDs, i found it worked fine on them.
I have a 200GB Maxtor USB Enclosure it failed with, but my 1TB USB HDD (WD Book Essentials), a 4GB SanDisk Cruiser Flash stick and a 2GB PNY Flash dtick both worked fine.
Another thing you can try is to rename the .BIN to .ISO after its been ripped with NERO, then install with USBUtil 2.0, as thats how i did mine.
PS2 Consoles:
SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

interesting. perhaps i'll try that. and perhaps after that i'll try my mp3 player i guess just to see if that works
Bingo!!! converting the .BIN to .ISO with MAGICISO did the trick. finally got it working on my WD.
thank you very much!
