hi, if it is correct that by default opl saves its config file to memory card.... .... instead, can i set it so the default location of the opl cfg file is on my usb hd instead? (so eg. i can easily edit the cfg file by hand by plugging my usb hd into my laptop...)

So if you want to use a USB device to load/save OPL configs, make sure no MC is inserted when OPL starts up.

thanks, thats a very nice method opl uses... (what a great program!)

and thank god i only need to remove the memory card once, and then it will always use the usb hd from then on, even when the memory card is put back in again afterwards.... (i hope)

damn, didnt have any success with this after all (using one of the latest beta revisions). it seems once a memory card is used in my ps2 again, opl goes back to saving the config on the memory card (eg. if the opl cfg files are cut and pasted from the mc to the usb hd, then in theory that should be enough to stop opl writing cfg files to the mc, but instead, opl simply reverts back to saving on the mc everytime it sees there is one inserted).

i will submit a bug report tomorrow. meanwhile if anyone else could do a test, that would be nice. that would confirm if it's me doing something wrong rather than a program bug.

I believe its 'by design' that you need to keep the MC out in order to use USB or HDD to save/load configs.

OPL uses a search order that is hard coded to search for the MC first each time it is to load or save a config change, so if a MC is inserted, it will just save/load to that.

Many apps give a choice on where to save configs to, but i dont know if the devs plan to do this for OPL or not, but it would be a great feature.

    opl beta 583:
fix for the "alternate device mode" that was failing to re-read the configuration files from "mass" device (by: hominem_te_esse)

hi, i just thought i would report that i tried this new beta. the fix only works when the memory card is not inserted, but once the memory card is inserted again, opl goes back to loading/saving to the memory card instead of the usb hd (mass) device .. so unfortunately there is still a bug regarding loading/saving opl config files to usb hd (mass) when a memory card is present.
