    Hello everyone,

I have a question about emulators nintendo, mega drive, and others who can run as APPS in OPL.

I can run ELF files through the OPL changing the configuration file of the OPL APPS.

I have the roms for the emulators, etc.. Just want to know when we are running the emulator from the network also run the games, instead of using a cd / dvd or a flash drive .. Is it possible?

    Thanks to all

OPL only boots the emulator, it doesnt do anything more for it, so your still at the mercy of whatever the emulator is able to do. Its no different than if uLe or FMCB booted the emulator.

What you say is of course true, but I feel it needs to be 'fleshed out' a bit, to give the OP the kind of info I think he was looking for.

In particular we should consider how such applications will work when they are not launched from the 'Apps' menu, but rather from a virtual boot disc, much like how OPL boots its backup games. Because that is when some of these homebrews gain abilities that they may normally lack, such as ability to load data files from network or HDD etc.

Many of the homebrews which normally can read data (Emu ROM files or whatever) from a CD/DVD disc will under OPL be able to read such data from the virtual disc that the homebrew program was booted from, which means that the real data may be loaded either from internal HDD, external USB drive, or even from a networked PC or NAS unit, all depending on which OPL core was used to load the virtual disc. Because that virtual disc is what the homebrew booted this way will regard as being the disc currently in the CDVD drive.

I have myself made homebrew boot discs that contain an uLaunchELF setup used as GUI for several emulators and other homebrews, all of which are able to load ROMs and other data from that same boot disc. And this can work just as well from a virtual disc as from a physical burned disc. So then all those homebrews can access data on the virtual disc. But this doesn't necessarily work for all homebrews, as some are incompatible with OPL, either completely or just partially.

uLaunchELF is one of the applications 'on the fence' when it comes to compatibility, simply because of its large repertoire of abilities, as some of them may conflict with whatever OPL core was used to boot uLE. But that is not really a problem as long as those abilities are not used in that boot session. And in most cases it is simple to understand where conflicts may lie. For example, if uLE is run from a virtual disc over LAN, it is clearly a bad idea to attempt using the parts of uLE that would access LAN (FTP server etc), as that can cause an obvious driver conflict.

    Best regards: dlanor

sorry for the delay in responding, but I had some time away ...

So it is possible to create a virtual DVD. For example with the roms inside and cause the OPL run this virtual image and simultaneously run an emulator, so that when the emulator is looking for a CD / DVD drive to find the virtual drive.

    That's what I figured.

Someone can explain me how to do this whole process?

    Yes, this is possible.
You need to create PS2-(game-)compilant disc-images and start it through OPL's Game-List(s), like you would do with your PS2-Games.
    PS2 V7/DMS3 V2 (FW:2.4b7); Seagate Baracuda 200GB
    PS2 V7/CC1.0 (FW:34 hacked v2 BM:2.1.6); Maxtor DiamondMAX9 PLUS 160GB
    PS2 SCPH-30004R; NoMod+NoLaser

    3xSony BBA
    3xSony MC 8MB
    MAX/Datel 16MB with Boot-CD
    MAX/Datel 32MB&64MB

Heres a guide that might be helpful, follow the parts on the Multi-loader.

SKS Apps - Exploit Systems - Wii Ps3 Ps2 Apps - Homebrew Game Downloads

Just ignore the HDLoader stuff, as the tut was made to help noobies on running a ELF when all they had was a retail HDL disc, but you can run this as an ISO from OPL too. Not sure if you need the Mode 3 with it or not.
