I just want to remind you that some of the character casing errors for file paths still remain unchanged, as do some sentences that make absolutely no sense.
eg:

For a reader without internal HDD that sentence will rescan as:

So which is it ? Will it or won't it ?

I'll either work on this when I get time or delete this thread as I don't use VMC's anymore and I really don't want to maintain a tutorial that another has taken over.

So in a game would Memory Card Slot 1= VMC1, and the game no longer looks in Memory Card Slot 1 but rather in VMC1 ?
Thank you

And still I don't understand, how do I make from my USB Flash Drive (Siemens, 32 MB) working Mem card
I have PSTwo, bios 75004, PAL, moddified with chip (not sure which one).
I don't have Mem card and nor HDD.
Is there any alternate way to make MC from my USB fd?
I never tried before to launch any of homebrew's on PS2.
Please help me, what do I need to do???
Thank you!!!

You can not make the entire drive into a virtual MC. It simply doesn't work that way.
But you can define a file on that USB device to be used as a virtual MC, and can also create such a file to start with.
This is done in two menus of the HD_Gui program:
First you go to "SETTINGS"/"VIRTUAL MC SETTINGS"/"VIRTUAL MC PATH", which brings up a simple file browser which you use to select a path on the "mass:" device (== USB).
Then you back out of that menu and instead go to "MC TOOLS"/"MC CREATOR" to create the file, making sure to specify a size that is smaller than the total size of your USB drive.
I have PSTwo, bios 75004, PAL, moddified with chip (not sure which one).
A modded PSTwo should be able to boot homebrew from burned CD/DVD, which is always a good thing, though you will need to know how to make bootable PS2 discs.
You may still have some need for the FMCB boot method I mention further below, depending on what features your modchip has VS lacks.
Then you are sunk without a trace. There is no way, ever, to make really meaningful use of a PS2 without having at least one real memory card.
This is not arguable, so just go buy one.
Your PStwo model can never use an IDE connected HDD as required for HDLoader, but it can use a USB connected HDD as required for USBExtreme/USBAdvance and which can also be used by most homebrew programs.

No

If you are not able to launch homebrew, then you are not able to launch the HD_Gui program, so forget about that for now.
First you need a reliable way to launch homebrew, and for that you should investigate the FMCB method in the FreeVAST forum (FreeVAST is the name of the project that preceded FMCB == 'Free McBoot').

In the tutorial for embedding VMC into games on HDLoader, it says you need a usb drive. Can you not use a VMC on the HDD in HDLoader?

No. That would not work because HDLoader is using the HDD for CDVD emulation.
That HDD usage conflicts with the HDD usage of the VMC emulator
In my honest opinion, use of VMC with HDL games is not worth the trouble, especially considering the high risk of game ISOs no longer working at all when modified this way.
It is far easier to use a real MC and regularly backup gamesaves to the HDD using uLaunchELF, so as to free up space on that MC for additional gamesaves.
