How to edit memorycard0.bin = Use ULaunchELF
How to edit memorycard0.bin = Use ULaunchELF –
I don't like reading threads I expect to be how-to explanations only to discover that some newbie is asking a question, hence implementation of [Question] header. Hopefully I will be able to upgrade the thread header to [Solved].
Anyhow, I'm very much interested in learning what would be required to edit the memorycard0.bin / memorycard1.bin which results from the fantastic creation known as HD Project. For example suppose I don't own a memory card and I have no way of utilising the mass of game saves available for download, how would one go about editing the memorycard0.bin with the game save?
Here is what I have tried:
winiso, magiciso, winimage, mymc, ps2save builder, memcardrex etc
I look forward to any suggestions or assistance. My next plan of attack is to write a .ps2 game save using a hex editor and hope for the best.
UPDATE: Ok hex editing memorycard0.bin with the contents of a ps2 save file resulted in "INVALID VIRTUAL MEMORY CARD FILE. ERROR: -5"

UlaunchELF has that ability, just browse to the VMC press R1 and choose mount to VMC(whatever you want). Then when you go to the device selection you'll find your VMC there.
Excellent! Thanks for your reply. I will attempt using UlaunchELF and report back here.
Ok that works wonderfully but I still have the invalid virtual memory card error, probably because I didnt convert the game save correctly.
EDIT: Holy crap on a stick it works, standby while I document this. Upgrading thread topic now.

Please be aware that the VMC driver of uLE is in a beta stage and may crash your VMC files when updating their content. Therefore you should always make a backup of your VMC files before using uLE to write into them, in case that damages their integrity.

Thanks for the warning, I have backed up the content I'm transferring so I'm not too concerned with any corruption issues. I find I have best results when copying to a virgin VMC. I have attached one to this post for anybody else who needs one.
