There is no other option besides a flasher. no dongle will let you downgrade. e3flasher progskeet and 1 or two other options are out there. do the research before puchase as most options will require soldering and all require you to open you system.
First of all you need to look at your ps3 and find out if its NAND or NOR. check the model number, if its CECHAXX-CECHGXX then its a NAND console and your limited to using ProgSkeet, or Infuectus. If its After CECHG (CECHHXX-or later) then you have a NOR console and you have a few options (E3Flasher, Progskeet,Teensy++)
I personally use a Teensy++ as it cost me $41NZD shipped from USA. Ive used it to successfully downgrade 3 NOR consoles without problems.
If you are poor at soldering i would suggest that you get a Progskeet with the solderless add-on(360-clip 56pin clip for NOR, or Dual NAND Adaptor and 360-clip 48pin NAND clip) as this is the easiest solution for people who are not good with soldering.
