I am guessing the fix will be a lv1 patch or an app to remarry the bd
How to use an app if apps don't work? xD
I think the best way is an update file (.pup) with the syscall or something patched.
I think we doesn't need a lv1 patch, but an appldr patch or a sprx patch..
On the other side, if you want remarry you need a custom payload for read the key of the bluray and set it on the ps3![]()
well i found this in lv1, but i cant seem to trace it back to the function. i am no coder by any means, just getting my feet wet in disassembly. also, is lv0 decrypted by metldr? i dont seem to have the metldr key in my .ps3 folder yet. i have read that lv0 doesnt have a loader so no keys, but i assume that the lv0 loader is the ps3 boot loader which is the same key as metldr,,, or am i way off here?
Mmm.. I think I will try IDA.
Have you used the xorloser's plugin?
I think that in lv1 there are the fuctions, but is appldr and sprx that lunch app, so it's better to bypass and not to fix/patch the fuction, becouse if you change a thing in lv1 then you must change the linked things in lv2. IMHO.
For keys and any info I advice you to see all the sheets of failoverfl0w team and the google sheet where there are all the keys![]()
yes i am using xorlosers plugin, also i have been trying anita999s spu plugin, though i have yet to get it recognized by ida. i would guess that if you can skip the actual bd setup and get the ps3 to assign dma for the drive, then lv2 would likely at least allow code execution. from looking through lv1.elf it looks like the ps3 polls the drive, compares some numbers, and assigns dma (this could have been for the hdd though). i am hoping lv1 patching will work since we dont have lv0 access.
i started off looking in lv0 because i assumed that lv2 wouldnt have access to bypass hardware and that the panic (black screen) is caused by an lv0 condition not being met.
Now I have no time to install-set-work on IDA, but I think about a solution.
I think that if GameOs (lv2) is loaded without BR drive, so the check/problem is not on lv1 (that load lv2).
Geohot bypassed the signature check on pkgs with a sprx patch.
The bluray drive check is only on eboots/selfs, so on appldr or on the right sprx that is used by appldr it can be done a patch.
All of these things are only My theory, but I'm not so good as many coder are.
Ah.. and I'm not a real coder, but an hobbyist coder xD
Hi.
I'm not sure what I need to fix my PS3, but here goes:
From what I gather I think (and hope?) it's the Laser.
I can load a bunch of games and a few I can't (LBP2, for one).
If I put a disc in the Drive the blue light will light up, but no noises
are made. If I hit eject the disc ejects in the same position I put it in.
I don't recieve any kind of errors and the 'Game Title' under [Game]
doesn't appear.
I'm hoping someone here with more knowledge on the situation can help.
I have a 40GB (500GB) Fat PS3, model (I think): CBEH1000 (Nov. 2007)
Also, if you have a good idea of why, I'd like to purchase it soon
(I'm limited to U.S. purchases only, so I hope I can get help on finding
somewhere legit to grab the part(s) needed to fix the drive, if possible)
If you need anymore information just ask, and thanks to anyone who replies.
P.s.: the main reason I want to fix it is so I can backup my own games and play
some games that require having a disc in the drive.
@Nahlidge if you can launch any apps/packages ,not just install but launch the app, odds are a laser replacement will do you just fine. however i have found that many lasers sold as new are actually refurb'd . i installed one , new from the box, played a few rounds of nfs, gave the ps3 back to my cousin, and he brought it back the next day with a dead laser... go figure. though the ebay guy did swap me out, the next laser was fine and still working to this day.
Is someone currently working on a way to remarry ps3 with a new logic board? I've read Mathieul succesfully did it but he didn't wrote a tutorial for the masses we really need it thanx
